odd schoolbus

Hi. It just might not be in the right corner. but I thought You would like to see this build.

schoolbusses might be as common as trees in the us, in holland they ( the old US-schoolbusses) are moustly used as promotional verhicle.
The zoo in my hometown has made one really special.
and I'm going to try to build that one. and get close as I can.

the butget for building this one is limmited, as is the time. this one should be finished in half a year.
It will be build mainly out of plywood, the outerskin will be aluminium sheet. some other parts will be aluminium too. just to make it durable.

the build started this week and I will post pictures reguraly.

here are some allready

That is so awesome...I so want one...my day job is a school bus driver, although I am driving a 2013 freightliner school bus I like to imagine that my bus is similar. My kids and I have so much fun..Good luck and I will definitely be watching this build...

Love this unique build idea. I have been very impressed with wood as a medium on models so I look forward to seeing this one come together. :)

hi
I got a litte further on this build.
I re-enforced the side with sticks
http://imageshack.us/a/img266/3215/b...innenzijde.jpg

and I closed the front and put the last 2 arcs on they are a little higher than the other.

the spot where the girafs will be attached the roof will be a double layer.

Re: odd schoolbus

the skills. well. I'm building modeltrucks in all shapes and sizes for some 25 years now. I started when I was 11. with the plastic 1:24 italeri and revell kits. additions on those kits where wood and plastic. after 40 of those I started restoring a car ( daf 33) stripping it to the last nut, and rebuiling it, took 5 years all the welding, putty and sraying the paint I did do myselve. now I'm for some 10 in to the RC-trucking and my ten project aren't kit's the first one is mainly wedico, but modified. having an office job working with autocad all day make it easier to make drawings like this
http://imageshack.us/a/img708/9882/busouwehand2.jpg
to get the build going.
I usually print the part I need. stick it to the plywood. and cut it out.
the hood is the last bit I can make that way. than the main wood construction is ready.

http://imageshack.us/a/img11/3645/be...tbeginneus.jpg

just needs the details and fenders.

the animals are going to be made out of wire and "puppetclay" the forward looking giraf has started to grow
http://imageshack.us/a/img811/6000/b...ingiraffen.jpg

I got one question. can any one make a few pictures of the seats in a schoolbus?

Hey Peter,

wow, this is amazing. And i think a lot of work. But very well done. I know its not so easy to build big parts in wooden, therefore: respect to your skills !!!

Re: odd schoolbus

the second giraf is looking sideways.
the wet clay needs some support.
and I dont know if the second one looks sideways at the right spot.
and I have been searching the net for pictures of the animalbus. and the girafs seem to be places further back on the roof. in earlier years. it might even be a second bus...

but any way the girafs are on the roof

Re: odd schoolbus

I just checked the license plates. It's one bus.
but it had a rebuild.

I found it even on google maps. http://imageshack.us/a/img46/327/dak...oogleearth.jpg
clearly the girafs do not stick out over the hood.

http://imageshack.us/a/img208/4636/000buskl.jpg
not over the hood.

http://imageshack.us/a/img10/8452/ashaal6cqaa9tv9.jpg
different color and over the hood.

I need to move my girafs a little to the back.
