Kit Bashing

You all know what I just figured out. For all the money i have spent gathering parts for my HEMMT build, I could have just bought a kit and used most of the parts I need from that kit. Buying piece by piece costs big bucks.
My project is coming along but i could have been nearly finished by now and spent probably less money.
I will know better for next time. LOL:cool:

Sometimes it is cheaper to buy a new, complete kit, indeed! Better still to sell off the left over parts you don't need afterward, which helps offset and recover the costs.

I have found the same thing with the Trailer I sell - can't get the piece I need for less than a whole kit..... even if it's just the axels and hardware - even from Tamiya the parts bags are hard to get......They intend for us to buy the whole kit....un like the TLT axel kit or some other specialty kits...

Well as I said earlier, I know better now. These are a little different than our RC tanks.
There are plenty of places to get spare and replacement parts believe it or not.

You are right Nate kits are the way to go and sell off what you don't need. I have also found that you need to buy a kit that has parts other will want to buy. If you are just looking for a running chassis buy a King hauler or a Globe, the body sets and chrome will be much easier to sell than say a Mercedes or a Scania.

Guys:

Karen at the AAF Tank Museum will order Tamiya parts for you. She's been helping tankers get parts for years, and Willy knows she has decent prices. Heck, I've ordered through her, and often she has a bvetter quite than eBay, and even the local stores can't come close to her prices.

Go to the AAF website, and go to the PX, and then contact her. Willy's driven his rigs around the 'battlepark' and done 'fom-thr-cvab' video, and even pioneered the 'armor-recovery missions they run. I'm sure she'd be willing to assist.
