Powerful non-hydraulic Excavator from italy?
 

Anybody know the scoop on this? I found it through a german forum with a thread that was titled "oilfree"

man that is pretty slick! The one vid shows it lifting 2 gallons of something up. It looks pretty powerful.

Not that I could find.

The only info I could find is:

It weighs about 62lbs
Made mostly of steel
runs on 4 x 7.2 volt batteries

It must be a newly released item.

I'm pretty sure they are screw drive, which wouldn't be hard to do with motors like these. Not sure on the torque of these but I seen some the other day somewhere that would work for this purpose. This is a good buy on these Maxon motors.

If it were screw drive wouldn't the cylinder rams have threads on them or am I missing something?

Could have a tube over top of the screw to protect it and make it look like a cylinder rod??

If you cover the threads how do you screw? I guess I just can't imagine it in my head.

Here's another link for the model. If you look real close in the picture you can see the gear motor at the top of the cylinder. The cylinder down tube would cover an internal threaded cyl rod. The rod is fastened solid at the bottom so it can't turn. All we have to do is just figure out what thread there using

Your on the right track, steamer. And it would leave a massive amount of room inside with not having the pump and valves everywhere. No oil all over everything if you develop a leak. It's very ingenious to say the lest.

Or the tube holds the nut on the blind end of the "rod" and you spin the screw inside of it all

This is the method I have seen on some german models. When it is really small and there are 2 cylinders (1 per side) the motor is in one and the limit switching is in the other. Never saw great pics on it but it was in the translated description.

I am surprised that someone in Germany hasn't manufactured a variety of small screw drives already, with all of the rc construction interest there.

With all of the manufacturors of construction equipment with hydraulics in Germany, I can see why there wouldn't be much talk about this model in Europe. I like the idea but still too much money for me to take a chance on something new.
