Re: Komatsu 895 forwarder
Good start! Since I work for a Komatsu dealer, I'm always interested in seeing their products being modeled. We have sold only a few of the forestry machines in Kentucky (not much of a market here), but know there are a bunch in Tennessee and northern Alabama.
Will be watching the progress on this! Ken |
Re: Komatsu 895 forwarder
Take a look at this thread, maybe it can help. RCP57 used a bogie axle setup for the conversion of a bruder dumptruck. The motors may interfere too much with the ground clearance, but having a gear motor for each wheel looks to be the simplest way to do what you need.
http://www.rctruckandconstruction.co...ead.php?t=4870 Maybe you can just drive two wheels on each bogie and use a track over the tires like you sometimes see. Although the tracks will introduce thier own set of problems (see link). http://www.mascus.com/forestry/used-.../gn3kihfi.html Either way, you have a great start, I cant wait to see how the rest of it turns out. |
Re: Komatsu 895 forwarder
Axles are made of wood with holes cut to gear motor diameter, motors are wrapped once round with electrical tape and it holds them in solid(had to hammer them back out), this gives me clearance on the chassis allowing maximum articulation, i used wood because a piece of aluminium the same size was expensive and im not confident i would machine it right first time. Got this idea from rc_farmer who built a grader with wooden bogie axles.
Hoping for a test run this weekend if i get time to solder the motors up, was hoping to make electric steering but with 8 wheels there is maybe to much drag for a servo so i think it will steer with hydraulics. http://imageshack.us/a/img69/2246/o02j.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img46/3599/71m1.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img835/2222/6uq8.jpg |
