fuel tanks?

I have tried the search technique but have come up dry. I want to try and make my own fuel tanks for my King daycab. What size pipe do I need, how long and what is used for endcaps? I am building one part at a time and I have never seen any of the parts in person before so I don't even have a comparison. Thanks for the info in advance. I know I could also look through build threds and find the info but that could be time consuming so I tried this rout.

I used pvc pipe. I think 1 1/2 inch diameter. as far as length thats up to you. I think I cut mine 5 inch long. I traced the diameter to a piece of styrene then cut it out and glued to the ends. Sanded to smooth it out some.

Hope this helps

The 2 inch might be a little big, but it depends on what kind of truck you are building and the look you are going for. Here's a pic of my work in progress with my tanks mounted.

Re: fuel tanks?

Stock Tamiya tanks are about 1.5" diameter. Wedico tanks are closer to 1.75" diameter, which I think looks to big, for a Wedico. I'm going to go with 1.5" on my Wedico, and it looks great. The reason Wedico went larger, was so that they could fit an ESC inside the tank, freeing up room for a full cab interior. Something to consider. It's a nice place to hide a receiver, ESC, servo, and other electronic components. If a truck is going to have a tank, you might as well use it for holding something, if possible.
