IH 9670 Trailer Toter "Paint Done"
Well here is a project I started about 8 months ago after seeing a really nice looking IH 9670 Toter at the flying J so I wanted to build one but since I did not have any picks I did not get too far on the build at the time but a rolling frame and a shorten body. Well after tons of Ball Busting by dear old Dad aka Freddy and seeing Izzy's toter and I also started doing some repair work for a local mobile home company this week and got to look over there 4 Fords really close I started into it again. After changing the length of the frame 3 times in one week and MORE Ball Busting by DAD for picks last night and today I got it right I think.
So here is were I ended up late last night.. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cowboy/016.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cowboy/017.jpg So now I think I am finally were I need to be to get the look right so I started on the bed of the Toter.. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cowboy/018.jpg Next the back wall and the locker under the tire rack. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cowboy/019.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...wboy/023-1.jpg Next the sides out of .80 and the locker door. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...wboy/024-1.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...wboy/025-1.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...wboy/026-1.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...wboy/027-1.jpg Here is a shot of the C Channel I used to make the side stronger. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...wboy/030-1.jpg Another shot of the the back with the tread plate on the bed and a hunk of brass C Channel. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...wboy/032-1.jpg Other side done. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...wboy/031-1.jpg Now the cab is lowered and I also cut down the stock stack and took a stock tank and removed the top step off the tank and mounted them. And in the bed added the 2 lower supports that make the frame stronger for the pogo stick i am going to try to make work. So here is were I finished tonight.. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...cowboy/033.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...wboy/036-1.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...wboy/037-1.jpg Now I have to do the tank and the stack for the other side tomorrow but let me know what you think... |

Re: IH 9600 Trailer Toter
Seen with european eys, that is a very strange truck. Ive seen some of them on HANKSTRUCKPICTURES and Ime not a big fan. but Ime sure that this build is going to change my way of looking at them..
But just like your other builds Ive seen, very nice job, looking forward to seeing more pictures of this one.. |

Re: IH 9600 Trailer Toter
I agree with Dad!! Sleeper needs to be shorter if not gone completely. I have a place that sells these within 10 minutes of me. I DID have plans to make one out of a King. Now I don't know???? Will wait to see what yours looks like.

Re: IH 9600 Trailer Toter
Stopped at the toter dealer. They had 1 IH, 1 Fruitliner, & 2 Sterlings setting on the lot. None of them had sleepers. No COE's either. All of them seemed a lot shorter than what you are building. All of them had about 11.5' wheelbase and only 1 exhaust stack.

Re: IH 9600 Trailer Toter
You are doing fine Paul. The guy who moved my brothers trailer out so we put in the house had an old JB Hunt cabe over shrtened to a single axle and it still had the full sleaper on it.

Re: IH 9600 Trailer Toter
Well............,I'm so........sorry! Didn't mean to squeeze no grapes. Have seen a few toters in my day,SON! To me it just looks like sleeper is a bit to long yet. Most of the ones I've seen are day cabs. But have seen them with tiny sleepers on the thruways. Now the way I see's it,is you no like'a my drom boxes.I no like'a big sleepers on toters:p:p:D

Re: IH 9600 Trailer Toter
I hate to see grown men argue so to settle this in 5 min on the net this is my results.
The very fun thing is they are all 9670 Internationals which is what the globeliner is based on. ENJOY http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/2528/toter.jpg http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/4762/4741.jpg http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/7...okjiewqq29.jpg |
Re: IH 9600 Trailer Toter
OK now that we have determined that you know what you are talking about make sure you get two major components on the toter.
The wide rearview mirrors and the 6ft adjustable ball on the back. Remember you are pulling something that is 12 to 16 ft wide. http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/6...k931alarge.jpg Great start........... |
Re: IH 9600 Trailer Toter
You could have even went shorter..aint it cute...:D:D:p:)
