RCP57's first King...
.....The trouble begins... About a month ago I was approached by one of our members to possibly "return a favour" and build a dump box for them. I had been pondering the idea of building a box for my Bruder Mack conversion and this was the kick I needed to get started. I started out by making up some press plates to bend the sides and used a brake to make the other pieces. It all came together quickly and I found myself in need of a truck so that I could get a feel for what it should look like on a King. I had been looking locally with no luck and was going to borrow a truck from Chaseracer(Jason) to get things started. I knew that a good friend of Jason's had a truck that was partially assembled but hadn't been touched in a long time so I asked(maybe begged) him to call and ask if it was for sale. Anyway to keep a long story from getting longer I was able to work out a deal and get myself a KH!
The truck has a 85 turn motor, high torque servos and aftermarket tires but that's about it. I still need a few things to get it up and running but all in good time. Once I had the truck I figured I should build myself a dump box as well...Then I thought why not make three, or four or... After all that BS here is my basically stock, non running KH and some dumps... http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0f5ee639.jpg Not much size difference hey?:D http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psd5ba9cc1.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...ps869daa4e.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1d1956b0.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1a50105e.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psec0ffce0.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psebcb6e14.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psc90795f2.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psb2a590cd.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2675fd96.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...ps05fbcba9.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6611acb4.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...ps64a949c2.jpg Thanks for looking! |
Re: RCP57's first King...
Looks good you did a fantastic job. I like your screwdrive set up, the cylinder looks nice. Can you get us a video of the dump lifting a load.

Re: RCP57's first King...
Thanks a lot Travis! I tried to do things a little differently and yet keep it a simple bolt on.
Here's a couple test vids- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzEa4...tJ-DusnO8Onw7A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Op4bp...tJ-DusnO8Onw7A Reg |
Re: RCP57's first King...
Great work Reg!
What was your time line to build each box? It'd be good to see a vid of screw drive working. ;) |

Re: RCP57's first King...
You make some bad *** dump boxes. Any thoughts of doing these for selling purposes? And what is the chances of you attempting a dump trailer?

Re: RCP57's first King...
A big thanks to everyone! I was a little worried if other people would like the way I built them. I guess this all answers my question.:bounce:
Yes I would like to build some more and sell them but this is probably not the section to discuss that in. Thanks again for all the kind words...and you're a great kicker Mario! |
Re: RCP57's first King...
Here's a couple pictures of the Mack box. It is shorter, wider and taller than the KH version.

Re: RCP57's first King...
Great job Reg! glad to see you pulled the screw drive off, without having to put a subframe on top of the kinghauler frame.
