windowless AC units

Anyone know if they make such a beast ? I need to cool 900sq. feet and keep moisture to bare min. . With 2 spindles running it starts to get too warm for me .

They do small split systems where the blower mounts on the wall and small condenser outside mitzubishi makes one

They also make mobile a/c units basically like the plug in radiator style heaters. I've got one at my shop, and I've seen them in both 110 and 220 in multiple sizes. I believe Home Depot sells two or three diff styles. If you can't find anything LMK I'll look up the info on the one I have.

I had one in my old apartment n it kicked butt, it would freeze out the entire apartment. I just had to put a few fans in to get the air around corners n in the bedrooms. The unit stands inside n you run an exhaust duct hose outside. The only crappy part is you need to drain the condensation out of the bottom of the unit where it has a drain plug n a pan.

good info .

Dan , no problem with rust on tools then ? being in a bank barn type setup humidity is a big problem in the summer . Winter not bad with the coal furnace on . If you could shoot me some info, I'd appreciate it .

well there is ones like this but you gotta vent hot air and you gotta drain the bucket or run a hose to a floor drain. I had one in an apartment with tiny old 1900's windows. just vented the air and a water hose out the window on the second floor.

SPLIT AC is the one with the guts outside and the rad with fan inside. Still need to drain condensation away and have it installed up on the wall. pretty similar to having ducted ac in the furnace installed for plumbing.
you can also have 2 indoor condensers on one outdoor unit if its big enough.

I have one that simply plugs into the wall. You vent the heat to a window and it drains condensation to a holding tank or simply hook a drain hose and run it to a floor drain. It will cool my whole basement in 10 min

Re: windowless AC units

As far as dehumidification goes you want to make sure you get one that is the proper size for the space and additional loads from the equipment. If you buy too large (too high BTU"s) of a unit you will have problems with condensation and rust on your equipment. It would be best to try and seal the space as well as you can from outside air infiltration and then have a proper size unit. Dehumidification is a function of the volume of air blown across the coil for a period of time. A unit that is too large will cool the space very quickly therefore not moving enough air across the coils to remove the moisture.

thanks for all the replies .

The stand alone's are nice (price wise ) but they just wont cut it with the largest 1 available . So , it looks like a split 1 but might have to wait till I can spare enough dough for it :( ( can not cut into the consumable fund )
