Thanks for the update Joe, I see lots still happening in the pit... If your new loader shows up on Wednesday that would have to be a record for postal service. I am waiting over two weeks for parts just from across the border !

Christmas will come early for you this year, I can't wait to see the new machine working in the pit...

Hey Joe, the patch is pretty busy for us guys still, we are flat out. We are doing all the big shale gas work and it is keeping us going big time. I have just been making a little more time for the hobby again. I sure missed it... Awesome progress on the pit! And good call on putting the 740 dump box on your ADT it looks really good.

Re: Hauling Dirt out of my basement (present day)

The record for fastest shipment is 2.5 days from Ireland, I bought my WA500 2nd hand. Getting anything from the states is absolutely ridiculous, it always takes forever. The last time I ordered from Stahl in Germany, took about eight days.

Yeah, the Stahl adt has been working exceptionally well, I just need to get a better radio for it. I'm looking at these Spektrum 2.4mhz, maybe that'll correct some of the glitching issues I am having with some of these FM controlled models.

Definitely looking forward to putting together this JD850 excavator. For those not familiar with this model, it's an approx 100mt sized hoe and here's a couple of build threads from skilled craftsmen who have added alot of details to the model kit by their own hand.

Thanx for your interest everyone, the basement excavation soldiers on.

Re: Hauling Dirt out of my basement (present day)

The 850 arrived late yesterday afternoon and boy oh boy was the box beat up & in tathers! Is FedEx normally that wreckless?!

I got some damage on the boom & stick... I wonder what this material is that's formed around the steel framework & how am I going to repair it? That's about all I see for damage so far. It was a bunch of small boxes within one big box and the undercarriage box was in bad shape too! I guess I'll have to assemble it 1st to see if there isn't any distortion.

It really pizzes me off how much I get hammered for shipping and my goods arrive to me like this!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...9/IMG_0196.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...9/IMG_0195.jpg

Took me a few hrs to clear my workbench, been a long time since I've seen this much space! :o:D

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...9/IMG_0194.jpg

Here's the other workbench and no, I didn't move anything more than a couple of screw jars over from the "cleaned" bench. I need more shelves!!!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...9/IMG_0202.jpg

On the left is kit stock Stahl bucket, middle is the one I make that's 50% larger and right is the 850's bucket  I think the Mammoth will see alot more work than it has in several yrs. :D

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...9/IMG_0198.jpg

This is just a few pieces of the undercarriage, it "feels" heavier than my entire Stahl excav.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...9/IMG_0201.jpg

Hmmm... where to start?

You would think if their going to ship something that pricey and that far that they would ship it in a wood crate. Did you take pics of the box and did you have insurance on the shipping? I hate that for you Joe.

Joe. If you can find the ear and it's not completely destroyed you might be able to JB weld it back in. I know the stuff has saved my butt a couple of times. Looks like it sure had a rough ride. Can't wait to see more pictures.

This looks as though it might keep you busy for a while..Dam those shipping companys ...Like Rob said that jb weld is pretty tough and very easy to shape with a dremmal tool .Looks as though it has some metal where the pin goes so you shouldnt lose any strength ...Might have to hone you bodywork skills though...So far whats your opinion of craftsmanship and Quality?

To bad about the damage Joe, we just can't win. But on the upside I see a new wing (addition) going to be added to your house because there is going to be a big hole in the ground that will need to be covered up ! ! Keep us in the loop throughout the construction build...

Hello Daniel,

50/50, the cereals didn't fair too well for quality and are going to be tough to market. The oil seeds, flax & brown mustard, xllnt yields & quality. Brown mustard prices are rather flat & it may be a yr or two till they improve & I sell, but flax is the money crop this yr & it'll pull my butt out of the fire & allow me to farm another yr... wish I had grown more acres of it. :D

I'd seen that 2nd vid last wk while searching thru yt for something "rc jaw crusher". That one looks mass produced, have you seen it for sale anywhere? The model looks like it's plastic construction and probably not very robust. I wonder material they are putting thru it in the vids?
