Trail King Drop Deck Trailer

Here is the build of my Trail King drop deck. I started with a set of Alum rails a buddy had cut out for me on the water jet and I added 1/2 alum angle to them with 5/16 stainless screws.

Next I used 1/4 alum plate for the floor and bolted the rails to them.

Then I used the stock plastic parts from a tamiya trailer and made my own alum plate to mount the king pin in.

Next I did the deck out of 1/16 thick oak plywood and used brass C channel over the wood and the alum plate to finish the edges.

I also soldered the joint were the C channel met in the edges and corners.

Such a sweet trailer....just awesome

I used the leaf springs off a Tri axle tamiya refer to mount my axles on the trailer and I also added a lower brass angle rail to the C Channel.

2 questions Paul

1: how'd you solder the brass without burning the wood

2: is there any chance of a guy gettn a set of rails?

I will see what I can do not for sure as I am waiting on the water jet guy to fit in 3 sets he only does it when he has wast on the end of a sheet that is how he keeps my cost down.

And I get a little burnage on the wood but not much it is all in how you control your heat if I can i use my big iron instead of a torch.
