1.1 Dimentions for 53' Utility Dry Van
 

While searching for specs on Van Trailers with North American specs, I ran accross this week n the Utility Manufacturing website, hopefully they are useful to anyone who might want to build their own trailer from scratch. Just use one of the many freely available scale converter tools on the web, and you can convert the measurements to your needs/ wants. I just hope the attachment works, as this is my first time doing this here.Attachment 5106

It does help. My experience with tamiya trucks is that the ratios are not consistent width height length tire size etc. Each is a bit different from the 1:1 .

This is great - I'm planning a flatbed semi trailer, custom build, and these dimensions are exactly what I've been needing. Especially the Deck height, connector location (5th wheel attachment), and the distance to the front stand.

I've found that if you do a search for "Semi Trailer Manufacturers", you'll get several companies that'll show up, that's where the fun starts. Just start looking through their "Product" pages/ links, and you'll usually find what trailers they build, then click on the names or pictures and look for "Specs", that's where you'll find all you need, and sometimes more. If they don't have schematics, they're at least likely to have pictures you can reference. One good thing to remember is that, not all US built trailers adhere to being either 48' or 53', I've seen them range from 25' "heavy Duty" trailers up to 57' trailers for hauling empty pop/ soda/ tonic cans and bottles or Lays Chips. So do what I've decided to do, look around, then if you're still not 100% positive of what to build, pick the features you like from a few different trailers, and "design" your own. Yes, I started out making a 48' flatbed, but couldn't find the exact parts I needed, so I decided that instead of copying a Fruhauf, Utility, Great Dane or some other manufacturer, I'm building MY trailer.
