Freightliner twin headlights

Hi All

here is my first go at making billet aluminium headlights

initial finish off the mill

And after being polished and fitting 5mm LED holders in the back, just need to make the lenses from a sheet of 1mm clear plastic sheet and stick them in the recess :)

Hi Wayne,

they are a little smaller than a std Tamiya one but you could get another pair and file them down to suit, this is my long term plan, but for now the clear looks ok...ps not fitted in these shots :)

Went and had another look and took a bit of a gamble, cut the original lenses in half, took most of the side down to about 1mm and they fit well quite well, I'm happy with them and they have the glass look so that is a bonus.

Hi...

Looks nice, but I think there might be a problem.

The lights do not have a hole, the LED might produce a round spotlight, thelight will not fill out the square room of the case.

In my opinion you should give the lights a bit more depth so that the LED can lighten the complete room so that it really looks like square lights.

Maybe I'm wrong... Let's how it looks like if the first LED is shining.

Re: Freightliner twin headlights

Hi, I think I have allowed enough for this, LED's don't shine from the side they only work front on but I have made it so the dome tip of the LED will be in the light area so it should be ok, I will test it in a few days/weeks and if I need to I can taper out the inside of the tube to allow more bulb to show.

thanks for the comments though

all good :)
