i think my first build is going to be some kind of loader. im debating on the pros and cons of wheeled, and tracked. so it may be some time before i get anything going.

And thank all for the warm welcome. ITs nice to be a part of things now instead of just "lurking"!! (my new fav word- thanks edwalsh18)

LOL!

what scale do you have in mind?
do you think you will go with hydraulics or screw drives?
you gonna just play with them or will they be really getting to work?

i also want to build a loader thats tracked or a dozer. i want mine to really work. i have a 6hp roto tiller i might decide to donate to the cause if i can get it all planned out. if not i will go with drill motors.

Im not sure on the scale yet. I have yet to do alot of planning out. Right now im just scoping the cost of what it might take for either directions. it seems screw drive is more doable. im in no way a machinist. in my case, ive been an iron worker for 12 years, and have welding equipment and such. I plan on really using whatever i make. i love the idea of having a tool to do a job. and that would be the intent. with tracks i see a big cost, but on the other hand with wheels i see more work. so im still debating. im leaning more toward a tracked screw drive loader now that i think about it. and the plus side with that is i can make different blades to turn it into a dozer type too.
