Fat "n" Flat
OH no.... why do I start more stuff???
I have had these wheels kicking around for over a year and I have been really wanting to build something stupid with them so here's the start of it. It will be a "hotrod" of sorts using a King Hauler daycab and I'll build a little flatbed for it. My goal is to have it drift and chop nuts on the shop floor and that's about it. Sounds simple right? I am only using this cab for mock up. I will either buy a new one(any ideas where to get one?) or use the cab from the King I bought last month. New would be nice though for sure because the other one is a bit beat. Rear suspension will be a home brew of self made leaves and so on. The front may stay stock KH but the stance is a bit too wide so I will likely machine an axle but nothing fancy. I quickly sheared a couple strips and bent up my own rails. Now I need to start making suspension parts! Tell me you guys think! Good or bad.lol http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...pssq0gpe7l.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psr0coprbi.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psxvlefcfl.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psq79ywhbj.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psuaccljl6.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3xbieeks.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psonkrf7ze.jpg Reg |

Re: Fat "n" Flat
Now you need some hydraulics and one of those fancy 10000 dollar paint jobs....maybe a stereo system! This is going to be great

Re: Fat "n" Flat
Haha, thanks boys. Don't count me out yet. I haven't drilled any mount holes for this cab:). We'll just have to see what happens;).
Today was a productive day kinda. I machined a new axle that is 2cm narrower overall. It's also a fair bit lighter. It mounts the springs directly under the frame rails so that these fat @ss tires fit in the wheel well but still retains good steering travel. I have yet to mount the shackles on the rear but I am still pondering something... Next I moved onto the rear. I was thinking custom leaves in the back until I went digging through my spares pile. I actually should have named this the hoarder special because there will be more oddball items in this truck but whatever. I ended up making ladder bars from some channel and using the front shocks/towers for the rear suspension. It actually works quite well although there is no articulation. I don't want any of that anyway because I want it to spin doughnuts until the battery goes dead or I get bored.lol Plenty of work to do but I like it! https://youtu.be/KfOg69Hy0G8 http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psyuums3xg.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...pswae5c3xd.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psw6idb4uo.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psykvm9ssg.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psvlc8kncc.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...pst4jxr0ql.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psqwffuqsd.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psevrwjqf0.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psqa9cffwy.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...pspths41ug.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...pstv6ghsdk.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...pstdp1yzuv.jpg |

Approved: Carry On Please.

Re: Fat "n" Flat
Want more spin ? Slip some pvc sprinkler pipe over the back tire's ! Just like on those drift trikes!
Cheers! |
Re: Fat "n" Flat
Wow, looks great so far

Re: Fat "n" Flat
With those wide tires and being a single axle you will have no problems doing droughts till the battery is dead, just ask the guys who have seen my junk truck in action. My poor junk truck has spent more time doing droughts and on its side the actually driving.

Today was not very productive but I did mount a trans, motor, servos and made up a driveshaft. I'm running a 550 Titan motor and a trans that's missing 3rd. I think that's probably a good thing.. Lot's more to do but it's already doing what I set out to accomplish! Make me smile!!!!!!!!!! https://youtu.be/bAqOMBtDLhQ http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psbzqo2dnw.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psc39zklql.jpg http://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/...psj1yjolkl.jpg |

Crunch Crunch FilmTime again Yihaa :bounce: Just saw Fat"n"Furious Part One :D
Can't wait for Part Two  |
Re: Fat "n" Flat
It's hard to stop once you start isn't it! Move the battery in the cab, get third gear working and they will need an air chisel to get the smile off your face. You will also be surprised at how well is does it on carpet. I have found hotel carpeting to be the best.

I tried it with the battery forward and it wouldn't go anywhere but around in circles. These tires are fairly hard so they have very little grip. I think once I build the flatbed for it things will settle down a bit more and it will be more fun. Third gear in this would be just stupid.... Anyone have a spare aluminum drive gear for third? That's what I'm missing to put it over the top for wheel spin....:jaw: |
Re: Fat "n" Flat
It's a drift hauler! :D

Re: Fat "n" Flat
LOVE IT! I'm inspired again :D
