Looking for Part Source Reference

Hello

I am in the Early planning stages of a 1/16 "Ma Duce" 2 1/2 ton truck build.

I would like to know, does anyone here know of a dealer of extruded Aluminum frame rails? I have gone through the dealer section here and with my luck, the only one I saw, had really nice ones, had passed away.

Thanks for your Help.

George

Hi steamer

Thanks for the tip. Also I think I should ask you and others here, what are the chances of buying 1/16 scale parts for my build project? Everything from wheels, rims, cab etc.

Hello cayllo

Thanks for that link as well.

I am VERY NEW to this type of build so I for sure don`t even know what ALL I need.

My plan/wish is to build a R.C 1/16 scale Ma Duce 2 1/2 ton U.S Army Truck. I need everything from the rails, DC motor, suspension, axles, drive shafts, springs, tires, rims and whatever else I don`t know to make a copy of the real army one.

Here is a good build thread you might be interested in:

Out of curiosity why 1/16 scale, is it because most of the tank models are 1/16th?

Hi TRUCKMAKER

First, Thank You for your link.
Second, Yes 1/16 because my tanks are 1/16.

I have gone through that link before, a few times, WOW that guy is Good. The ONLY thing, I wish I could see frame planes and a better way to hide the servo steering. Good idea for the axles, using modified servos, no need for a dc motor or esc.

Would be great to see more detail parts of that build but if I read it correctly, it was posted last year.

Really nice work though. Does anyone know the real life cab used on that truck? Also can rubber tires be bought in 1/16 scale?

Thanks Again for the help.

George

P.S keep the tips coming Please.

The 1:1 cab design is/was owned by the government. These trucks were originally built for the US government, they were not a commercial truck converted for military use. I hope I understood your question about the cab and that helps a little. As far as 1/16 tires the garden trucking link is about your best bet with Wedico. Just not a lot of options in that scale for trucks.

Hello again TRUCKMAKER

Thanks again for your time and help and YES you got my question exactly. I thought the truck was a civilian conversion to government use so the cab was a whatever converted to government needs. So I guess that will be scratch built.

I think my best bet would be to work off of a 1/35 scale model and up scale the parts to 1/16 for my needs.

Thanks Again for the help.

George
