Izzy - added a sliding plate .....

He ya'll - been thinking about how to do this for some time now. And I replaced my frame rails (too many un-used holes) - SO I went for it!

A sliding fith wheel plate ..... probably already been done by somebody.....

But here is a vid

kinda wished the tamiya 5thwheel slid from factory. even if you had to latch pins yourself to do it.

Sorry on the late reply - not ignoring, just absent minded.....wife calls it "shinny ball syndrome" ....can do on the details - nothing to hide. Bummer is I am horrible at taking pics when I build ---- so I will need to tear it down to take some photos....maybe I can explain in some drawings?????

Re: Izzy - added a sliding plate .....

Well .... drew up some sketches today - then determined that a picture is worth a thousand words - so I took it all apart and took some photos .... hopefuly they explain what I did. I did take the oppurtunity to notch out the lower plate and move the lock servo up to the underside of the top plate - this creates as much clearance as possible for the axels to articulate. Please note that you will need to give up the rear axel cross member, the through bolt and some other things to accomplish this. I had upgraded to Freddy's frame rails to avoid as many un-needed holes as possible

Sketches first .....

Looks great and thanks for the sketches. Yours seems to have more movement the FGD does, but they are both great ideas and work awesome. I will be adding this to mine for sure. Need something to fill the additional 8 channels i have.

Re: Izzy - added a sliding plate .....

Dan - Thanks a bunch - if I had to guess I bet FGD unit is a screw drive - I had thought about this concept but this is the way I ended up. besides I have run out of chassis space as well. I have run out of channels on my Dx7 - wishing I had invested in more.......
