Re: Tonka tow
Should have used a Y chain from the front axle to the
Rear on both sides of the overturned vehicle. Very cool heavy tow truck |

Re: Tonka tow
Very cool truck!
I'd throw some more ballast up front, and start following towing and recovery channels on youtube to learn techniques. Some of those guys can really make a car dance on the hook to get them out. If you can, try to tow them with an unpowered axle down so it doesn't fight like that crawler did. What running gear and how many channels? |
Re: Tonka tow
Ya I'm gonna put some extra weight up front I just finished it and wanted to try it. Also it's 15 degree above 0 up in Canada couldn't pass up that amazing temperature. The running gear is scx10 servo winches and actuonix actuators for the rear. I'm waiting for a light to come in. So far I've used up 6 channels. I also need to build some chain and hooks.

Re: Tonka tow
That is awesome, to use the toy metal body just makes it look that much better. Great job.

Re: Tonka tow
Thanks guys, next time in home gonna add more weight up front and really test those winches with the 4200 excavator needing a tow.

Re: Tonka tow
Wow, the hobby shop displaying it explains why we hadn't gotten to see any more cool videos of it in action.
Was afraid you were starting on the big one... https://youtu.be/Lr1q8fANPi0 |
Re: Tonka tow
yeep it's in there and we had our first child in June which is taking most of my time so hoping this summer get some videos of it doing a recovery. or at the very least some pics of it working. videos take extra time to set up that I don't have alot of. I seen that video already the center steering is strange and can't see how it's legal.

That's friggen AMAZING, Frizzy. I'd LOVE to have that toy, but not so sure I'd like the have the build bill associated with it. :D
