Rc bus
Hey guys, anyone on the forum built a 1/14 bus? I'v been toying with idea for a while now, searched the web and found close to nothing in terms of build details, pictures, etc... There is a bit of videos of people running buses and they are mostly in the countries like : Brazil, Peru, Thailand and Malaysia. Some are pretty nice. Here is a couple of links.

Re: Rc bus
Someone was building a 60s(?) Greyhound, I think was on the old Garden Trucking forum. Haven't heard or seen anything about it for since then.

Re: Rc bus
Those are really slick
All the "1/16" busses i can find are more like 1/24 to 1/36, but are as long as a 1/16 sports car, so it must be 1/16. Maybe check with them https://www.facebook.com/brutustrucksrc/ This bendy-bus is really cool... https://youtu.be/rIUdlbp9nAM Take semi rims to a print shop, have them scale this up, use template to make it out of styrene? https://www.tamiyausa.com/articles/t...article-id=433 Or any other papercraft bus body, i don't know your vision. Try to find one of these? http://www.wheelsacademy.eu/rchobby/...t/bus/bus.html Or Playmobile 5106, they're about 1/16-1/18 but can be stretched http://www.wheelsacademy.eu/rchobby/...i/busmidi.html http://www.wheelsacademy.eu/rchobby/ http://www.wheelsacademy.eu/rchobby/...bus2/bus2.html http://www.wheelsacademy.eu/rchobby/...leed/bus3.html http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/non-c...4-gmc-bus.html he started one Uh, get cracking, now i want to see a bus built in a language i understand |
Re: Rc bus
Thx.Frizzen, thats a lot of info, I gave up on detailed plans on anything specific and started to work on a model that will look like a bus,but w/out being a copy of anything existing.
Will start posting pictures soon. |
Re: Rc bus
Tamiya has released a school bus body (I know that's not quite what you're looking for) on a 6x6 monster truck chassis. If I can get ahold of the body separately, I'm thinking I can finally build a 'short bus.' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BanQVyq_oA0

Re: Rc bus
Yeah, apparently 'Bus' was a rabbit hole. I kinda want to build one eventually now. Real busses annoy me though.
Those are cool, wow you can do a lot of lights, and cram alot of detailing in there, and signs. Lots of variety, city bus, metro bus, airport bus, travel bus, tour bus, motorhomes... There are a lot of conversion ideas i can steal that should help with my firetruck. ---- Modell truck .net has a Bus sub-forum, in german. Re: Rc bus
He posted new pics of the bus he's making - it's really coming along. :)

Re: Rc bus
I don't know if it'll help anyone but i've found a premade SchoolBus body exists in the usa.
Not a lexan shortbus for a monster truck, but a proper bus made of very thin steel. The details are a little light, but it beats my scratch building. Jose Cuervo tequila at some point made a metal body conventional school bus. It's about 1/14 scale Party Bus with a wooden roof rack that held margarita glasses. Probably between 24 - 30" long. I didn't have a tape measure, or want to drop as much cash on it for a project i'm not ready for. https://i.imgur.com/PvDCtKuh.jpg Lots of potential there. Maybe it stays party bus, maybe it goes like Partrige Family, maybe it goes chrome yellow and black with all the lights and stop arms and the doors operating. I dunno. I believe it's like a 1990s International chassis, but i'm not up on busses. My district mostly ran Thomas and BlueBird pushers. |
Re: Rc bus
I also found that a European (?) company 'Rico' built a line-controlled Public Transit bus back in the 1980s of a Mercedes Benz o-305 with 2 sets of curb-side doors on the right side.
It looks to have seating for Driver, 23 passengers, and some room for some standing passengers. German guy https://www.modelltruckforum.de/inde...eNo=1&731e3daa French guy http://camions-rc.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31127 |

Re: Rc bus
Well, here are some pics of buses in Panama a few years ago. Seems individuals own the buses and contract with government to provide service throughout the country. Some very cool & unusual ones! Really like the vertical stacks coming up thru the bumper.

Re: Rc bus
Very nice, making a bubble glass windshield would be a challenge.
|
Re: Rc bus
Speedy that's kind of an odd looking bus, what other styles do you have there?
Looks like windshield is probably only curved on 1 axis, so it should be possible to do that part with just a heatgun |
