Frsky Q X7 trickery: Using trim tabs as momentary switches and other tricks

I'm in the process of working out how to set up my Frsky Q X7 to best control all the functions on my fire truck. I'll update this thread if I figure out something useful, so I remember them later.

Not enough inputs for all the channels? Here's how to reuse the trim tabs as buttons instead of trim controls:
Elevator trim as a momentary up/down switch for channel 14:
- Go to elevator input and disable trim.
- Go to elevator mix and disable trim.
- Clear input 14
- Clear mix 14
- Special function: tEu (trim elevator up) | Overr.CH14 (Override) | 100
- Special function: tEd (trim elevator down) | Overr.CH14 (Override) | -100
- Check output screen to verify channel 14 is 2012us while holding trim elevator up, 988us when holding trim elevator down and returns to 1500us when releasing the trim switch.

Elevator trim as a sticky 2 position switch. Starts out as channel 14 centered at 1500us, switches channel 14 to fully up at 2012us when clicking trim up, goes back to centered when clicking trim down:
- Go to elevator input and disable trim.
- Go to elevator mix and disable trim.
- Clear input 14
- Clear mix 14
- Logical switch L1: Stky | V1:tEu | V2:tEd
- Special function: L1 | Overr.CH14 | 100
- Check output screen to verify trim up and down toggles channel 14 between centered and fully up.
- Change Output 14 subtrim to -100 to toggle between full down and full up instead.

Elevator trim as 2x sticky 2 position switches. Click up to toggle channel 13 between up and down. Click down to toggle channel 14 between up and down.
- Go to elevator input and disable trim.
- Go to elevator mix and disable trim.
- Clear input 14
- Clear mix 14
- Logical switch L1: Stky | V1:tEu | V1: tEu
- Special function: L1 | Overr.CH13 | 100
- Special function: !L1 | Overr.CH13 | -100
- Logical switch L2: Stky | V1:tEd | V1: tEd
- Special function: L2 | Overr.CH14 | 100
- Special function: !L2 | Overr.CH14 | -100

- Alternate solution: -
- Go to elevator input and disable trim.
- Go to elevator mix and disable trim.
- Clear input 14
- Clear mix 14
- Logical switch L1: Stky | V1:tEu | V1: tEu
- Special function: L1 | Overr.CH13 | 100
- Output 13 subtrim -100
- Logical switch L2: Stky | V1:tEd | V1: tEd
- Special function: L2 | Overr.CH14 | 100
- Output 14 subtrim -100

One way to use rotary S1 as steering trim to free up another trim tab (Assuming aileron is the steering axis):
- Go to aileron input and disable trim.
- Go to aileron mix and disable trim.
- Go to mix page, long click on aileron, click copy, roll one down and ok.
- Enter the copy of the aileron channel mix, select S1 as source instead of aileron input and 20 weight.
- Now 20% of the S1 input is added to the steering input.

Re: Frsky Q X7 trickery: Using trim tabs as momentary switches

Sticky toggle switch when flicking elevator stick up:
- Logical switch L5: a>x | elevator input | 60
- Logical switch L6: Stky | L5 | L5
- Special function: L6 | Overr.CHx | 100

Momentary switch when holding elevator stick down:
- Logical switch L7: a<x | Elevator input | -60
- Special function: L7 | Overr.CHx | -100

Combined to toggle on or off high beams when flicking elevator stick up and flash high beams (optical horn)when holding elevator down, channel 6:
- Input 6 elevator stick
- Clear mix 6
- Logical switch L5: a>x | elevator input | 60
- Logical switch L6: Stky | L5 | L5
- Special function: L6 | Overr.CHx | 100
- Logical switch L7: a<x | Elevator input | -60
- Special function: L7 | Overr.CHx | 100
- Subtrim channel 6 to -100 if necessary.

^ This doesn't work if you want to use flight modes to change the assignments of the sticks. I just realized I could use logical switches in mixes, so this should work:
- Input 6 elevator stick
- Logical switch L5: a>x | elevator input | 60
- Logical switch L6: Stky | L5 | L5
- Logical switch L7: a<x | Elevator input | -60
- Mix 6: L6 as source.
- Mix 6: Copy and paste the first line and add L7 as source and select "Multiply" as mix type. This should output a multiply mix of the states of L6 and L7 logical switches.
