Help with "first" kit/ globe build
 

So my globe liner will be here today and I was wondering if you guys/gals could help me out

I built a king hauler a year or two back but before I could order and install a esc and transmitter a friend decided he had to have the truck, so I sold it to him..

So while technically this is not my first kit it will be the first kit I'll complete..

So with that in mind I was thinking about using a hobbywing 1080esc, a twister high torque metal gear servo from rc4wd and either a flysky nirvana or flysky 10i with whatever receiver comes with the transmitter..

Will these parts work together?

I'm also having difficulty deciding on a paint scheme for it, so I'm gonna share some pics of trucks I like..

if everyone who reads this could give me a yea or nah for the truck they like or don't like, thatd be great!

Yeah i like the 3rd pic/ red white and blue international as well

But for some reason I really dig the 2nd pic/ green and white freightliner alot..

even thought about switching the green for a metallic blue or maybe even a burnt orange but ive seen the orange on here before so that's a no go

I see no reason why those parts shouldn't work fine together.
I like the 3rd one, but the second one in blue with orange stripes would be nice too :)

I just wanted a second opinion on my electronic parts list as I'm a total greenhorn when it comes to that stuff..

Kinda funny everyone I've show the pics to in person likes #3 the best as well..

so #3 it is, it's about a 2.5 hour round trip to my local rc hobby shop so idk if I'll have the time to pick up paint for awhile..

Might just have to use some dupli-color perfect match rattle cans from napa, I used that stuff on a trail finder 2 with great results..

I guess the only thing to check is if you want a spring loaded, self centering throttle axis, you may want to check that your chosen radio can do that.

I think a lot of people choose to use other types of paint, both for cost and availability. Just test your combination of masking tape, primer and paint on a scrap piece of plastic first. You may find that the size of the metallic flakes in car paint is quite large compared to tamiya paint though, if a scaled down metallic effect is something that matters to you.

Once again thank you wombii !

I know the flysky i6 and i10 both can be setup for self centering gimbals, I'll have to check on the nirvana..

If I use duplicolor paint I'll use duplicolors primer as well..

I'll also be using 3m brand fine line for my paint edges and 3m green painter's tape for masking..

Only downside to the dupli color is that stuff is almost 10 per can but the cans are larger then tamiya's..

I ordered a hobbywing 1080 and a rc4wd 80 turn motor..

Been waiting on my bearing kit so I can build the transmission and axles, they've been in my mailbox since Friday.. haha

Oh and unfortunately I was not able to find paint in the colors I liked to do the #3 paintjob so I'm going a different route..

So now its gonna be metallic Forrest green and Wimbledon white/ creamy white

A friend of mine had one of them 80T RC4WD motors in his truck. He had issues with it..........a LOT of issues. Truck wouldn't pull at all. He left his other electronics alone, & replaced that motor with a cheaper Chinese 80T motor. After that the truck performed much gooder. I JUST got a chance to catch up on this forum. :(

I'll try it out and see what happens worse case I'll be out 12 bucks..

I'm also gonna be using the flysky i6s now as I'm on a budget and it also comes with self centering gimbals outta the box

I'm still waiting on the clear coat to cure on my frame and cab but my transmitter and battery came today...

so I was able to program & calibrate the hobbywing 1080 esc, so the electronics are all set to be mounted once I finish building the truck

Got a heater in the closet my cab and frame are in keeping it around 85° F, gonna keep moving it from the closet to my front deck where its 50°F.. gonna try temperature cycling the paint to cure it quicker...

Should have it all done tomorrow after work if the clear cures to satisfaction..

well all done short of the visor, idk yet if I wanna use the stock visor or buy a drop visor..

and i really dont wanna remove any double sided tape later if I was to switch to a drop visor down the road

Oh and I ended up buying a flysky gt5 instead of an i6s because the i6s wouldn't arrive for another 2 weeks and I prefer pistol grip style transmitters anyways...
