Are you greasing the pivots of your excavator?
This is a daily (or at least weekly) ritual on working prototypes
If you do grease, what is your favorite? https://i.postimg.cc/3x50xtMj/6-28-2022-8-18-15-PM.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/L8tYYjRc/6-28-2022-8-17-42-PM.jpg |
Re: Are you greasing the pivots of your excavator?
On my selfmade excavator i‘ve used self greasing materials like brass or bronce for bolts etc.
I think, if you grease them, you will get a big mess with the mix of sand and grease. |
Re: Are you greasing the pivots of your excavator?
Ok
On prototypes I do see a lot of dirt on the grease that squeezes out but since they are fed grease from within (from the zerk) I guess it is no problem. |
Re: Are you greasing the pivots of your excavator?
Maybe try to start with something like Teflon dry-lube for the dirty areas, or Light machine oil for the better protected areas?

A new machine arrived today :). First thing I did was pull all the pins I could and grease them. It's an easy job and IMO it is definitely "regularly scheduled maintenance" for an excavator so not worried about dirt buildup.

The 360L is very dense for sure. https://i.postimg.cc/rwyCQG6P/IMG-3440-1.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/rsL5WxCg/IMG-3447.jpg full reach comparo https://i.postimg.cc/C18jzmDz/IMG-3437.jpg full "up" comparo https://i.postimg.cc/3wVX8Pks/IMG-3443.jpg |
