Im sure you've all seen it. but i'll post it anyways.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6.../DSCN96271.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...DSCN9521-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...i/DSCN9569.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...i/DSCN9566.jpg Retread on the left. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...i/DSCN9935.jpg Ok who swapped out one of my rims? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...i/DSCN9939.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...i/DSCN9705.jpg and It doesnt get washed to much. constant silt & mud driving dispite being rwd. I removed the rear shocks the other day to do a mockup with some axial axles http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...i/DSCN1226.jpg I had started work on a custom sleeper for a globe liner or another king but this is as far as I ever got. I belive it scales out to 105-115" http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...l/DSCN0054.jpg |
Re: My daycab king
Fantastic King Hauler and fantastic Pictures - at Pic 3 and 4 it looks like an Original in 1:1.

Re: My daycab king
That king looks great! Are thoes stock king frame rails, or did you cut them down?
|
Re: My daycab king
thanks. :) I cut the stock frame rails down by about 1-2" and used a peice of metal I had milled to fit inside the rail to re-attach the pieces.

Re: My daycab king
love the look!! great build

Re: My daycab king
Cool truck. Looks like her paint job is hiding a previous flame job? Almost like ghost flames.
|
Re: My daycab king
your right about the flames. the original top coat on the flame job didnt stick to the first layer and when I pulled up the tape, some of the flames came up  so I just sprayed it one color. at the moment I'm lowering the nose and changing the fenders because they've been the one thing that has bugged me about the king hauler.
anyone have some advice on lowering tandems or should i leave the rake? with the front lowered the egg shape of the fenders becomes crystal clear. :( http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...i/DSCN1248.jpg or I could attempt to make a full set of low-profile tires. but it would still have a slight rake. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1/DSCN1249.jpg |
Re: My daycab king
low profiles! looks mean.
|
Re: My daycab king
heres a side on shot with all lowprofiles on one side. the stock bumper(minus plates) is about 1/2" off the ground.

Re: My daycab king
hm, it makes sense that you might have to notch the frame. how strong was the frame after you did that?
lately every time I look at the king hauler I keep seeing it with a single rear axle with a set of lake pipes instead of the tandems. edit: I was looking at your build and noticed you had mounted the leafspring oto the top screw. I put mine on the bottom and decided to see how low it would be if I mounted it on the top. :D at the moment all I have thats low-profile are the trailer super singles. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...i/DSCN1255.jpg |
Re: My daycab king
well I know its way to early for paint on the hood but *shrugs* its primer afterall ;) Its going to be black with the stock decals. I'll get a set of pete fenders soon for it. I've been thinking of smoothing off the rib in the center of the hood but I', not to sure on it.

Re: My daycab king
i like em smooth,
the hoods that is :p |
Re: My daycab king
because I like to stare at my projects instead of working on them ;)
I'll fade the frame eventually. this is what I mentioned in the other post. however instead of full sidepipes they will exit between the steps and fuel tanks. except ofcourse super singles on the front and dual ss on the rear. although I'm torn betweein the single axle and tandem. I had planned on making a full row of roof lights but I think I'll subtract 2. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...i/Untitled.jpg |
Re: My daycab king
I like the direction you are headed.......something different!
|
Re: My daycab king
:) I finally did it.... now I've just got to get the single axle suspension for the rear. atm its just sitting on the springs. You probably will notice the lack of paint on the roof. I did some sanding so I could attempt to smooth the joint between the roof and the sunroof and where the old beacon was.
The cut is pretty rough atm but I'll fix it by the time I'm done. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...i/DSCN1715.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...i/DSCN1716.jpg |
Re: My daycab king
I know this really isnt an update but I only recently got a new cordless drill :D
with rc4wds release of some lowpro tires I don't have to cut & reduce the tamiya ones :D I think I might just paint the roof after filling in the holes and leave the rest of the paint as is. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...i/DSCN2084.jpg theres going to be 6 red leds here. I'm going to fix the 2 larger holes. one was a switch and the other was a light that never worked. I think I need to redo the back panel as the drillbit decided to walk on me  http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...i/DSCN2086.jpg |
Re: My daycab king
Well I cant make up my mind. keep it a daycab or stretch it with the studio sleeper overall length is 28.5" I like it looking like this but imagine it painted with actual full size fuel tanks, steps, pipes, fenders and frame rails

Re: My daycab king
I always change my mind!
I mock up my builds in different ways to see what I like, and it never turns out to be what I originally planed.:D |
