Re: 170" Super Stretch King Hauler

Re: 170" Super Stretch King Hauler
I got the truck driving under its own power - got the servos both in and working well:
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch40.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch41.jpg No real updates on the body - I haven't done any additional body work or sanding! but I did get the rear boxes mounted and drilled and I got the fuel tanks flipped and mounted also: http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch42.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch43.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch44.jpg Going to have to space the battery boxes and fuel tanks down to open up some room for the light bars! Even after that, I don't know if I'll have enough room to open the boxes: http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch45.jpg Next steps are to mount the stacks and section and mount the battery boxes... mount the fifth wheel and get some body work done! |
Re: 170" Super Stretch King Hauler
So I finally mounted the pipes that have been laying in the shop forever!

Re: 170" Super Stretch King Hauler
I got the MFU speaker and MFU board mounted. It wasn't how I imaged it going in the from the get go, but I am pleased with the results.
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch50.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch51.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch52.jpg Also got the fifth wheel assembled and mounted so I can actually tow something around! :D http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch53.jpg Battery boxes sectioned: http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch54.jpg And I got the body in its first coat of primer... Still PLENTY of body work to be done!!! http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch55.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch56.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch57.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch58.jpg |
Re: 170" Super Stretch King Hauler
Something to offer here... I got tired of sanding and sanding and sanding... and just let the project sit for a while... well, I'm back in and am pushing for paint! I have the body work 99% completed on the sleeper with just one or two minor touchups.
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch63.jpg Thanks to Brian_in_PA for all the guidance! I finally got the hood cut off... and more importantly, put back on! http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch64.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch65.jpg I just need to do some filling on either side and it will be good. I also made a simple firewall: http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch66.jpg I have 9 cab lights for the cab and 11 for the sleeper. These lights are just sitting there for the pic... I blacked out the windows also: http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch67.jpg |
Re: 170" Super Stretch King Hauler
Wow, Awesome Rig Rod!
You have so much room it would cool to feed the f-350 trans with another semi 3 speed so, you would have a 6 speed...a super low 1st gear would be nice when maneuvering that thing.:D |
Re: 170" Super Stretch King Hauler
A well overdue update... with not much to offer!!* I let the truck sit and haven't really touched it since February!* I got back into it a few weeks ago and made some more progress on the body work... it looks better, but still has a way to go...
I made some sleeper extensions out of brass and got them in primer. I also fabbed up some tandem fenders: http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch59.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch60.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch61.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...rstretch62.jpg |

Re: 170" Super Stretch King Hauler
Hey guys!!! I haven't been on the forums much, haven't taken any progress pics, or slept much, but I'm ready for Indy!!! The truck isn't 100% done yet, I need to get a small list of stuff done to it that I just ran out of time. I'm looking forward to not rushing home from work and working on it till 1 or 2 a.m.!!!! I need to make a catwalk plate and paint it... paint the fenders, and some small wiring under the hood....

Re: 170" Super Stretch King Hauler
One unique piece of machinery. Makes me wanna ad a CAT engine. With the white paint, that engine really looks good in there. This thing is flawless. Great job Rod!!
