What an amazing model, I'm not surprised it cost €3.5 million to make. And that was just the airport! I saw the model railway on tv, apparently the guys that started this made their fortune running a nightclub and then sold up to invest in their hobby. I would love to visit this place.

That is amazing. The way they simulate the planes taking off and landing is brilliant.

Hey Bsorenson79, Somewhere on there site, I heard(or read)??? that they(owner's) used to own a really big night club, very successful, sold it to pay for the exhibit's. Just flat out incredible! Does this answer your question? Later, Neil#2 aka doodlebug.

P.S. Thank's Snowman! Doh!!!!!! I knew came from somewhere!

Does this Airport generate money? Do you have to pay to see it?

It is incredible! Model Railroader has done an article on the model railroad portion of this layout, and many of the vehicles on the highways feature working head and tail lights! Along side one of the roads, they have a simulated grass fire, with fire trucks, and lots of little red and orange LEDs glowing in a grassy ditch. It's pretty much a miniature world.

Hello folks,

I'm glad to live near by of this "Miniatur Wunderland". Since their opening in 2000 I visited them till now 4 times. I have to go again to see the new features they have. It is absolutly great what they build. You need hours or days to see everything and to realize what they have done. All information, pictures and videos you can check out at their website : http://www.miniatur-wunderland.com/.

Have fun - Günther / Lübeck-Germany
