Alot of you guys scratch build , do you try to get it as close to scale as possible by eye or do you get plans / make drawing ?

i take alot of pics and measurements and still get things wopper jawed lol i use 12 inches equals an inch and a quarter for example i build close to 1/10 scale models but i still don't have them exact
