My new Kyosho Blizzard SR

I was at a loss where to post this. It's not really a dozer and not really a tank, but it's a lot of fun. I just received it earlier this week. I've owned one older version Kyosho Blizzard in the past, but it left something to be desired. It's chassis was not without weakness, but I was really glad to see Kyosho do their home work and improve just about everything that plagued the older version EP machine. Of course I added some custom touches to it already, and there will probably be more to come. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I can't wait for some big snow storms! I added a lot of lights, so now I can play in the middle of the night. Daylight is a precious commodity in these parts, once the winter months hit. :D

I just gave it a good shake down run outside, a few mins ago. I love the LEDs! It comes with a plow too, but I just didn't install it yet. I'm not a big fan of the body, as it doesn't really replicate any machine in particular, but snowcats from Pistenbully and Prinoth are really cool. I wouldn't mind building a replica cab and body, if I had the skills.

Very cool looking  and those are pretty sweet vehicles, kinda like a tank with warp drive capabilities. I'm sure if you painted the body with some kind of theme it'll look better.

Lucky you are! :D

I built up a more accurate looking body out of styrene for mine when I had it, made the machine look way better IMO , great job on the LEDs , really adds character to the machine!

Thanks, Jeff. They are great models. This is probably Kyosho's best engineered version, out of all the others they've done.

Me too, rcman. I remember being a teenager looking at these in the Tower Hobbies catalog. The very first Kyosho Blizzard DX. Couldn't get one though. I didn't have enough money and my mom and dad couldn't be presuaded to get me one for a Christmas or birthday present either.

Definitely fun, even if you have no snow. I ran my old Blizzard in the middle of summer. Grass, sand, gravel, anything. They don't care what you run them on.

Thanks! Lights add so much to the model. Any model really.

Do you have any pictures? I've seen some Pistenbully cabs offered by a German company, and they look fantastic, but they look difficult to scratchbuild. I'm not really a styrene master.

Hi, where did you get all your lights from?

Re: My new Kyosho Blizzard SR

rcman.tjk, the lights are from Axial, but you need to supply your own LEDs and wire your own harness. Or you can also buy a pre-wired LEDs, with a simple on off controller, from Axial too.
