MAN 26.320 and MAN 33.385

Good Evening folks.
It´s been a long time since I was able to post something new. At the moment I spend most of spare time on the site of our new home.

Still I found some mins in the evening to fresh up the tippers and as there are almost none european trucks prestented over here... :

http://www.modell-baustelle.de/index...3488ddc21460d0

http://www.modell-baustelle.de/index...ccefe32e5bfe3d

Both have all-wheel-drive, the 8x8 a 6-gear-box and the 6x6 a 3-gear-box.
Can´t wait to finish our new home with my new workshop in the basement. Then the usual "scrath-builing" can continue.

nice truck, which model manufacturer did you get them from

@Brel:
The trucks are still selfmade. They´ve just got painted new over the holidays. The 8x8 tipper exists over 8 years in different versions. It´s first been a roll-on-roll-off. The 6x6 as well. It used to be an 8x6 heavy haulage F2000.

8x8:
-axles are modified Wedico (before thy made driven-steering-axles themselves...)
-main gear-box is veroma, second gear-box is Osswald
-rims an tyres are veroma
-tipper is osswald
-hyds are scaleart
-cab is a modfied bruder and the rest is scratch-built (bumper, visor, exhaust,...)
-electronics are mostly servonaut

6x6:
-axles are the new scaleart. Got them for xmas (symbolic)
-gear-box also scaleart, but not quite running yet.
-rims, e, cab,... as before
-tipper is a modified wendscher with scratch-built accesories and an electronic lift-system.

Nice. They look pretty hardcore and the off road tires emphasise that these are heavy duty bad boys!

The 2011 version is actually my favourite. Good evolution though.

Re: MAN 26.320 and MAN 33.385

@Swagger:
I´ve got a set of regular ecoforce tires too, but at the event shown on the pics were no "paved" roads.

After 10 mins the diff-locks of the brand-new-Axles gave up, so no driving with the 6x6 all day long :( . Without awd and locks there was no way driving in this terrain. So yeah, they were built for heavy duty...

I also liked the red better, but the two trucks exist in 1/1 in the company "Glass Bauunternehmung". The Owner is a relativ and we kinda joked why I´m driving for "Klaus-Bau". So they got green. The green is actually darker than the pics show.

I think the green looks great. I know how it feels to show up to an RC get together and something breaks first off (it sucks)..I would love to see video of this truck in an offroad sutuation..

Good morning folks,
it´s been a year since the last post of mine and it´s been a year since the trucks had left their boxes. The annual meeting of www.modell-baustelle.de was an opportunity to let them out for a change. Same location, new pics:

That´s where I listed most of the parts I used. There are some SA items included, but it´s definately not an assembly-kit.

If you tell Mr.Brand from SA that he uses bruder-cabs he might give u a piece of his mind :D

Sure there is not as much scratch built as in my other models. That´s why i usualy give the % of self built parts on my website. http://www.funktionsmodellbau-geiger.de

Ulrich, your models all look great. Did you say your Scale Art axles were the ones that had the differential locks fail? What happened to them? Was that something you were able to repair?

Re: MAN 26.320 and MAN 33.385

@Nathan: Thanks. At the moment I just aint got the time for scratch builing. It´s a pitty. Some weeks ago I got my 3d-Printer from Solidoodle NYC and haven´t even unpacked completely...

There where to probs with the SA Driving line. The first was that the difflock on the axle is triggered with a very fine lever and rope. I simply scrathed one of at the rear axle at this event hitting a rock. Anyhow Mr.Michalik from SA was kind enough to repair the damage in a very short amount of time with no charges.

The other problem is the differential (alongside? don´t know how to discribe "Längsdifferntial") in the main gearbox. It is meant to be very scale, but the effect is slightly strange. There are several threads on german boards about the construction and knowledge behind this part. I honestly don´t get all of it, but shortly said: It was meant to divide the forces rear/front while all axles are locked, but under certain circumstances the wheels start turning different ways. Here´s a vid from a german colleague:

Re: MAN 26.320 and MAN 33.385

So the centre differential in the transfer case, between the gearbox and the driven axles can reverse the drive direction?

Interesting fault that one...

Do you have a link to where it is discussed in the forums?

Cheers,
AP

Re: MAN 26.320 and MAN 33.385

Ulrich,

Thanks for the link, now I think I understand what is going on... It's just a byproduct of having a centre differential... If the truck stops on a steep slope, and the traction on the front wheels isn't sufficient, the rear wheels torque will be transferred through the centre diff to the front wheels.... The front wheels then start to slip, going backwards whilst the rear wheels roll down the slope.

To stop this you have to have a lockable centre differential.

Cheers,
AP
