Is it ok to run Lipo with the Tamiya MFC?

i do it all the time, never had a problem. the mfu doesnt have an LVC (low voltage cutoff) so you just have to keep an eye on your levels. you could also plug in an aftermarket lvc between the battery and the mfu , it will automatically shutdown when you hit the cutoff voltage.

You can def run lipo and I would run the novak cut off. It is cheap protection.

I would say watch your C count on the pack - The MFU is relable for up around 3500 - 4500 mAh on NiMh packs so don't think it cna handle a 50 - 100C pack - it could fry it depending upon what gearing, motor style or trailer load.

Disclaimer - I have pushed these RC truck a bit to the limit and a lot further than the majority of our truckers. So the general guy will be fine. But if your try'n to pull a 95# dozer on a drop deck, up a hill, with a standard motor and no gear reduction you could do some harm even with a 3500 mAh pack - I did......bummer too.....
