Mack DT 3rd rebuild
First build the little VMG axles were too weak:

Re: Mack DT 3rd rebuild
The transfer unit that I made is done but, I won't seal it up with silicone until I abuse it for a while.

Re: Mack DT 3rd rebuild
I bought the 10" Dump that FGD was selling for it.
THANKS FRED! http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...xxin/mleft.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...xin/mfront.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...xxin/mrear.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...xin/mrear2.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...xin/mright.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...xin/munder.jpg I still have a lot of work to do. The bed is just sitting on the frame. I have to make the cable lift system for it, find better steps, tanks & front bumper. |
Re: Mack DT 3rd rebuild
Scott the truck is comeing together nicely and you are going to realy like the front driven axle.

looking really good man!!!

Re: Mack DT 3rd rebuild
That baby looks scale now.Super nice job lowerin the cab to where it belongs. Only one problem. You might have to change your forum handle.
Something like large haul. Can your skid steer load that workhorse? Or do you have to ramp it? Keep up the good work! FGD |
Re: Mack DT 3rd rebuild
Thanks Joe!
Thanks Travis, I can't wait to get it finished so I can see how well it does off road. Quote:

Will you be converting a Tonka Mighty Loader? That would be cool! |
Re: Mack DT 3rd rebuild
I forgot, Awesome Truck!!

Re: Mack DT 3rd rebuild
This is going to be a nice looking dump. Much better looking with that cab dropped down where it should be.
|
Re: Mack DT 3rd rebuild
I agree. Sweet little dump truck, even though it's not that small! Bigger then the Tonka converted one you did. :D

Re: Mack DT 3rd rebuild
Very cool little rig by far the best looking Mack bruder yet..Great work!

Re: Mack DT 3rd rebuild
Thanks a LOT Fellas for all of the positive remarks!
I just got some needed parts from Greg (Losiassociated) today to keep moving on the rebuild. I still need to come up with nice bumpers for it front and rear. I might look for some 1/4" aluminum and try to make a front bumper. But, I'll probably get the dump working first to make sure it is ready to haul at the Brookville meet. |
Re: Mack DT 3rd rebuild
truck is looking great, the new box fits on there nice. really like the transfer case, nice and simple.
|
Re: Mack DT 3rd rebuild

Re: Mack DT 3rd rebuild
Thanks All!
I got some more done. It really needed a new frame so, I used a set of stock KH rails. You can really see how short it is when it is sitting on the uncut frame. http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...maxxin/3-2.jpg I looked at a bunch of pics on the net to get the rear length right, I am happy with it. http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...maxxin/4-1.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...maxxin/5-1.jpg Still needs tanks & steps. I found some pics of Granite DT's that have long slim tanks that I am guessing is for better ground clearance and I might make something like that. http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...maxxin/6-1.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...maxxin/7-1.jpg I did make a set of pipes using King & knight exhaust parts. http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...maxxin/2-2.jpg |
Re: Mack DT 3rd rebuild
Made some more progress. I got Fulda tires for it and filled them with bb's and glued them with CA. So far the truck weighs about 9 lbs without the battery.
http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...bumperleft.jpg I also made a hefty front bumper for it (1/8" thick aluminum stock) and used solid 1/4" square stock running inside the frame rails to make it nice & strong. http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...xin/bclose.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...tmaxxin/b2.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...tmaxxin/b3.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...xxin/bront.jpg |
Re: Mack DT 3rd rebuild
Truck looks great! The tires look the part for sure. A tilt top tag trailer would look really good in tow.
