project Road Hawg
Well finally got some time to tear down my truck to start building my first custom truck. This is what I'm shooting for
http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/...62/BWS4378.jpg Hopefully I can get it close. Here's where I'm at so far. I got some frame rails cut and most of the holes drilled and tapped, and in roller form. http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/...2/IMAG0044.jpg http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/...2/IMAG0043.jpg I picked up a PMD front bumper in Indy and put it on. I also moved the front axle forward per John Stylin and Profilins . I think I may need to move it forward some more. Not sure yet http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/...2/IMAG0047.jpg I also may cut a little more off the back of the frame. when I was drilling it out I forgot to move the rear axlles back. I'll have to see once I get to putting a bumper/lightbar on. http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/...2/IMAG0048.jpg The cab in these pics is the stock cab just sitting on the frame for now to give some reference. I've got another one that already has gone under the knife, and the dremel, ans the saw. LOL This will probably be an all winter project as time and $$ are two things on short demand. Let me know what you guys think. Any constructive criticism is welcome |

Re: project Road Hawg
Well got some goodies ordered, hopefully be here in a couple days

Re: project Road Hawg
Dave - if your interested - I slid my front axel forward on my day cab just like you did. But then added the little chain "hooks" that come in the flat bed kit, just on the front side of the axel between it and the spring to act as a wedge to correct for the spring arch.

Re: project Road Hawg
Well I got some goodies in the mail, and some small progress
http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/...2/IMAG0056.jpg http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/...2/IMAG0055.jpg I got the new sides on the hood http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/...2/IMAG0057.jpg I changed the angle of the windshield http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/...2/IMAG0060.jpg And I cut around the top of the cab to raise the back up to get a little more of a Pete look http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/...2/IMAG0061.jpg http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/...2/IMAG0062.jpg I wasn't happy with the way the top of the cab came out above the windshield, so I'm in thprocess of changing it a bit. And I addaded some styrene to the top of the sleeper to give a more rounded contour once I sand it down. http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/...2/IMAG0058.jpg That's all for now, let me know what you think. |

Re: project Road Hawg
The 1:1 Peterbilt looks really nice. You have good taste. Nice work on the model so far. I'm curious to see how the cab turns out. I like that you are putting in some extra work to make it more authentic. Keep going.

Got some work done this weekend. Got the back wall put in the sleeper, and the rear window cut out. Added some filler and did some sanding. Still have some more sanding to do. Sorry for the bad pics it's from my phone
