Testing out new shocks
I've been experimenting with oil filled shocks on my truck. trying different oil types and quantity..... Now, working on Mama Sues truck I wanted to try something different and found these from RCdamper.
Not great for authentic look but what im interested in is the easy to adjust spring rate. Plan on hauling something heavy, just tighten up the springs. Then loosen up for light roading. didnt like the color they come in so a little paint and.....Voila :D http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...image-02-1.jpg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...image-01-1.jpg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...te/image-1.jpg ohh. and they are oil filled also. Not just springs. Pretty cool actually. Mario |
Re: Testing out new shocks
Just got these bad boys installed and they work great! Definitely will be getting some for my rig. You can feel the difference when the springs are tightened up :D

Re: Testing out new shocks
They look good and if you put rubber over the springs they would look like air bags lol

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ALLOY-REAR-SH...#ht_2192wt_722 I've bought lots from this guy. Never had a problem with fit or finish. Comes from Hong Kong and I get it in 7 or 8 days every time. I probably made almost 10 orders by now and no issues. |
Re: Testing out new shocks

whats the length and diameter of the springs alone? if you dont mind measuring? :D thanks Allen |

They are 12mm X 25mm......:D:rolleyes: After I sent you the link, I ended up ordering another set for my rig:). A set of four, out the door for fifty bucks, can't go wrong. Mario |
Re: Testing out new shocks
I know what your thinking Allen,
Ya, 1/2 shrink tube would slip over and then maybe a hair dryer on hot instead of a lighter or small torch. Could probably get it to shrink more evenly with a hair dryer? Mario |

Re: Testing out new shocks
I've come across sites with various springs, can't think of it right now. I'll let ya know if I find it. Sorry, didn't realize you we're just looking for the spring:o

Re: Testing out new shocks
I know this is an old post but thought I would give my 2 cents worth about these shocks. I bought some of these and put them on my Knight Hauler...looked great but I didn't like the stiffness of them. I guess if you are hauling really heavy loads they might be just what you need. I tried adjusting them all the way to a softer setting but still a little stiff. They do look good though. Still looking for something better that has a little more give to them for my highway runner.

Re: Testing out new shocks
Did you try them with the spring removed and only on the oil shock ?
Your right though, best use is for heavy loads. I haul my 40lbs excavator and lowboy. The springs turned up help keep the suspension from bottoming out. The dump truck also has them because without, the stock suspension can't handle a load and drives around with axles on the rails. |
