Hello from Sooke B. C.
Hey guys, my name is Mike. I've bean around the rc world of rock crawling for a long time. Here are some pics of my last trucks I built.
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i5...l/SAM_1777.jpg http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i5...l/IMAG0366.jpg http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i5...l/SAM_2490.jpg http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i5...l/SAM_2682.jpg http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i5...l/SAM_2845.jpg But now my good friend Jason [chaseracer] has dragged me to a new side of rc's. And I have to say WOW! There is some much cool custom work here it blows my mind. Back in the day if you wanted a rock crawler you had to build one. But today any Joe on a whim can goto the hobby store and buy a truck and hit the trail an hour later. In the end you end up alot of guys that have no passion for the hobby, just some guys with $500 to blow. Looking at this aspect of the rc hobby that will nevre happin, I hope. I see all the custom fab work and just think, these are the people i want to meet. From day one I've always loved to build and fab as much as I could. In the last year I decided to step it up a note or 2 and got a 10 - 22 laith and a small mill. http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i5...l/IMAG1560.jpg http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i5...l/IMAG1559.jpg Kinda funny as in my first 40 years I have nevre truned a handle on either machine. A year later and I've come up with this. Even an old dog can teach himself a new trick. One of my favorite peaces I've done http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i5...l/IMAG1562.jpg Thanks Mike. |
Re: Hello from Sooke B. C.
Since you are pretty much my neighbor we'll have to get together sometime soon! I'm happy to see another Islander on the forum, especially one from my home town! I have no advice to give on the truck you are about to build(not that you need it) but I do have some experience blobbing aluminum together should you need something done.
How do you like that lathe? I have been thinking about buying something small for my shop since I have use of my Dads 14x40 at his place. Reg |
Re: Hello from Sooke B. C.
Mike welcome to the forum. We need more Islander people on here. Get that King build going, as it's only 6 weeks for your first show in Campbell River.

Sooke, I been there. I visited friends who live in Duncan. They took me salmon fishing from a marina in Sooke. You live in one of the most beautiful places on earth by the way, lucky dog! :) Mario |

Welcome, you will find some great builds and builders around here, seems to be quite a few members from the island and surrounding area, I will have to drag myself over to one of the island shows some day.
