Motor choice for a "Stock" Tamiya King Hauler...
Sorry in advance for the newbie question.
I have a King Hauler with a stock trans and I was wondering what is a good turn motor....45t?55t?65t? I plan on hauling around my Hilux and Clod scalers in the future, there about 11lbs a piece. Thanks in advance!http://warcrc.org/phpBB/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif |

I have a 4/1 GRU with stock motors and both trucks preform fine. My king with flatbed will pull my 4 year old son around my driveway just fine, even up hill! the Daycab and dump will haul a full trailer of wet sand up hill. Good luck with whatever you choose.

You may look into an LRP Puller Motor....
PMD/Garden Trucking sells them for a very decent price considering it's a German-made motor (second item down)... http://www.gardentrucking.com/produc...x=5&startAt=36 And LRP's even come out with a 2nd and 3rd variation to this motor as well, now including a brushless option.... http://www.lrp.cc/en/products/electr...s/car/brushed/ They don't list the 'turns' of the motor online, on the box, etc.....but from what I've seen/heard these motors are 80T. But don't let that scare you into thinking the truck will creep along like a snail....with the stock pinion you'll be fine. Hope this helps, -Alex |

Re: Motor choice for a "Stock" Tamiya King Hauler...
I use a 55T Axial motor with a 8 Tooth pinion from scale. I have plenty of torque when pulling heavy trailers and with the 3 speed tranny I still have enough speed to build momentum to go up my backyard.

Tamiya Cowboy,
I forgot what pitch the pinon hear is, do you know? Also, were did you find a 6t pinon? I am thinking its a 32p, if it is, I found a 8t. http://store.rc4wd.com/8-Tooth-32P-P...ar-_p_617.html |

I put a 35 turn in my truck. It does pretty good, but I'd look at a 45 turn.

Ran one of those LRP motors in my King for a while, while plenty of get up and go to pull three trailers it was very pedestrian in its speed. Decided to go back to standard motor for now. Currently experimenting with an Integy reduction unit.
