globeliner dump truck

been thinking about a dump truck for a while, had an extra short globe cab left over from the other project, and ended up doing a trade with "stuff" for a mercedes rig with an awesome FGD plow and budd 2 hole wheels. the build was on.. dump body will be based off henderson equipment slant side

so here's the cad file..

here's what i started with (stuff's pic):

stripped 'er down, and moved the front axle forward a bit and propped the short cab on and mocked up the plow:

side shot with approximation of bed.

waay too much space between the bed and cab, so i had a spare king hauler sleeper around, with a little widening it should blend ok with the globe

still looked a little short, so brought the sleeper out a bit more..

yup i think that will do it. might shorten the frame a tad too

well that's it for now, have 3 other projects going, so this one will be back burner for a while.

comments, suggestions (offers to buy.. lol) always welcome

What about making the dump bed a bit longer and leaving the shorter cab?

Re: globeliner dump truck

i was thinking about that too, but if the bed gets too long wouldn't it need a tag axle if it was 1:1?

I also say, longer bed and shorter cab, you dont really see 1:1 cabover dump trucks with sleepers. You could always just add a non driven axel from a trailer as a tag axel

Like Bricknick mentioned you not only don't see sleepers much on cabover dump trucks you don't see them much on any dump trucks. Dump work is usually local work and adding a sleeper between the cab and the box means you will never have enough weight on the front axle to be legal.

You should build your truck how ever you want it, these are just 1:1 real world facts.
