Does anyone make a Folding Gooseneck?
 

I was just wondering if anyone made a Folding Gooseneck trailer like Load King?

I don't think so but it would be an interesting trailer to make and have it operate from a radio.

It is a trailer I plan to make in time once I have the winch truck done. I will be building from scratch.

That would be a neat trailer in RC! I have operated one just like it years ago. The geometry would be tough in a small scale:o. There are hyd jacks with small pads under each corner at the end of the main bed, and then the folding section.

We used to load the bigger stuff first and then put something lighter, like a skid steer on the neck. It was power by a small kholer and didn't seem to have any trouble lifting, but it was not fast...

Agreed on the Slider...

Seen 'em in operation, and they'd be rather easily done, just make a screw-drive to push-pull the axle-assembly forward/aft, and then rails for the assembly to slide on.

The folder, that would seem to be more complicated, as you'd need the right angles on the neck to get it to bend right, and then there are the power-disconnect issues... but you have those for almost all the trailer lighting assemblies (no-one's made a 5th wheel-mounted power transfer system...)

Why, you could hide the electrical links for the trailer lights in the link itself with leaf/pin-contacts, seeing as the 5th wheel stays connected.

Always liked how low the folding trailers are and it looks so easy to drive anything onto them but that's the only bonus I see with them.... the need for frame rail ramps,a winch add lots of weight to a truck that already has a wet kit... Personaly I like the Hyd detach goose neck myself. I timed my self the other day. 1min to stop,get out unhook air lines from deck, drop deck,stinger down, unlock pin ,back in truck and pull away from deck. It takes longer for the air in my tractor bags to drop than it takes me to disconnect from the deck...

If i had the know how and tools i would love to try to build a folding gooseneck even if it wasnt hydro, manual with a wench would be cool. I wish there was one of these made in a kit form.

Search out the username Ulrich on this forum, a fellow hobbyist from Germany currently has one under construction, I think he's nearly finnished & 90% works exactly like the life size. :cool:
