48' Flatbed almost done.
This is my first attempt at a flatbed. I started this a moth ago and it was pretty simple to build. Iused tamiya tandem axel assy and plastic landing gear from their trailer kits. I bolted the axels to the rails so that I get a lot of articulation.
It's pretty strong too... Hauled a real semi truck battery on it with no issues. Need to make an icc bar for the rear and weather the deck. Thanks for looking. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ps8ee02f39.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f2...ps7f73c3a0.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f2...psc3cf29e4.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f2...pse9eac6d3.jpg |

Nice, did you make the rails yourself?

Sharp looking trailer, got any plans for a load?

Looks nice, Lmackattack. I don't know if it's the short Globeliner that makes it look that way, but the trailer almost looks a little long for a 48 footer!

Re: 48' Flatbed almost done.
Yes I made the rails. Cut from "L" channel and tapered at the front for the landing legs and king pin plate.
King bob.. I used a solid sheet of aluminum cut it on a shear brake at work. I used thin wall "L" strips for the sides and ends. Tamiya axel, springs, legs, and crossmembers were also used From my stock flat bed kit I had. The deck is solod bass wood. I was going to use strips but the abuse I will put it thru I think this will be better for me. I plan to add lights soon. Espeefan It's about 49' to be exact. I plan to make another one but as a spred axel. Thanks for looking. |

needs a third axel but thats just the way us aussies buikd them as for the lights i used the 3mm holes that you would have used on the stock flat bed to put on the uprights and you hide the wiring under the floor just in case you were wondering how to do it lol
