379ex Hood Tri Axle Pete
Well while I was in Indy I fell head over heals for a rig and when I found out it was for sale I had to have it! Thanks ED.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...y/IMG_1722.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...y/IMG_1723.jpg now I am not going to change much on this truck I will be putting a cat under the hood and putting low pros on the lift axle but other than that I am just going to redo the side of the hood so it is all one piece and that way it will also have the 1 inch ext in front of the steps so I can put lights in that spot to. I will also do super singles on the front I picked up some other parts from Ric and I ordered RC4WD punisher drive shaft for this truck and the hay hauler today you can get them in any lenght you just have to ask. So the list looks like this 55 Turn 6 tooth pnion GD600 gear reduction MFU PMD blank with lights robbe low pro tires cat die cast motor and rad under the hood hidden servo for 5th wheel custom rear light bar Super singles PMD blank with lights RC4WD punisher drive shaft And lots of LEDs. and a few other odds and ends. |
Well I am getting things together to build the Blue Heavy Hauler Pete and with not much room in the body I needed to make the gear box more compact as so to fit the Diecast Cat motor and the 3 speed tranny.
I took a 2:1 gear reduction and mount it backwards on the tranny this way I have it as compact as I can and also get more gear reduction and also you can change up the gearing by changing up the gears in the reduction. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...y/IMG_1760.jpg Much Smaller than the Highlift http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...y/IMG_1761.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...y/IMG_1764.jpg |

Very nice and low price gear reduction for only 39.95 |
Well today I got some more on the Heavy hauler Pete done. I got both sides of the hood filled in and started building the new frame to set the Cat motor in and also fitted my EBH rims on the hole rig. These have to be the coolest rims I have ever had and do they weight a ton they really add some good weight to a rig.

Well I tore into My Tri-Axle Pete this week and got a lot done. I have tore it down and made new 29 Inch long frame rails, moved somethings around and added a Die cast Cat c-15 motor relocated the steering servo and shifting servo and used my Rev mounted 2:1 gear reduction 3 speed tranny so it would fit in the cab and leave me room in the rest of the cab and sleeper for the sound unite battery and radio gear. I still have to mock up the shifting servo and lift axle servo and steps also the rear deck plate and 5th wheel, 2 RC4WD punisher drive shafts with carrier bearing. More to come the next few days I am going to try to tear it down for paint by net weekend..

Got the 3 axle pretty much finished out tonight minus new stacks and custom steps and rear light plate but here is what I have now. Decking is all built but I still have to cut the grid plate to go over it and mount the 5th wheel..
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...y/IMG_2119.jpg > http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...y/IMG_2120.jpg [/b]Well i got a wild hair last night and got back at the triple axle Pete and with the help of Wade found a paint job on large car this morning so i got cracking with some finishing touches so i could get this in paint this week so it is ready for Indy. I finished the plastic work on the hood so I can get it filled and filled in the cab roof lights and got the radiator made also.[/b] http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...13axlepete.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...-3axlepete.jpg So now I can get it wet sanded and get the body work done and in primer. I will get the frame work all painted this week. |
Got the paint work done on my frame/tanks/steps/and tranny all DuPont Black with Clear then the tanks were wet sanded and buffed out. I still have to modd the rear tires and am hoping to have the cab all done with in the next week or so. It will be at indy but may just be for looks we will see.. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I just have to fine line it out with the gold around the Tangello orange. I have to rebuff the front bumper and 2 other small spots but other than that the body and paint is finished and the wiring has begone..

http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...IMG_0065-1.jpg I got the gold pin strip around the orange color the last 2 day I think it really sets it off nice. I am going to start wiring it now I am trying to decided if I should use the Servo Naught sound and light unit or if I will go with the tamiya MFU pretty tight on space with the motor under the hood so the tamiya mfu is sort of losing out. I also have to make mirror brackets and rear light plate. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...IMG_0068-1.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...y/IMG_0069.jpg |

Ok I got the truck all together body wise now it is time for wiring but I could not pass up the chance to get some good out door picks of it today.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...y/IMG_0092.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...y/IMG_0093.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...y/IMG_0094.jpg http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...y/IMG_0095.jpg |
Ok then at INDY Ed and I did some dealing again this year and I picked up his BAD KW day cab. I am not doing much to it just reworking the wiring to fit my needs and I put some of my new 1/2 stacks on it also putting a full polished deck on it and new tail lights and I wet sanded and polished the tanks and front bumper out to.

I finally finished my 3 axle 379 Pete my kid calls it BigBlack I guess it fits. I did some changing as I was installing the lights and radio gear and all that. I changed my steps to a larger taller step and put longer and wider mud flaps on it and put flaps on the steps and front fenders. I also made my rear light panel out of 2 Knight Hauler tail lights grafted together.
I have been driving it a fare amount in the last 12hr. Found out it does not bob tail on the carpet with the lift axle down, it loses traction so lift axle is strong enuff to lift the per load off the leaf springs.. Let me know what you think.
