hobby engine crawler crane
after seeing some of the great builds here....I really cant compete with you guys....lol.
heres a crawler crane project im getting into. its size is bigger than I thought.the battery is smaller than I thought...lol I load tested it right out the box, holds about 1lb boomed all the way down (about 30 degrees) surprisingly.....its better than I expected...operation wise. power is on the weak side, tracks are fast.run time without traveling is around 20 mins with a small 7.2 v nimh 800 mah. its a lot of fun.i cant wait to upgrade it all to have power, add counter weight, build some blocks,a pile driving rig...ect. best $130 I ever spent. http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...ps06645d69.jpg http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...psbdabe1c9.jpg http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...pscb462f4f.jpg http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0a00b576.jpg http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...psf6997ee7.jpg http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...psa93c1648.jpg |

Re: hobby engine crawler crane
I just installed some new boom wire...about 1/16th dia.blackcotton braided cord from hobby lobby.came in a 9yrd roll.
works great.i can now lay the boom on the ground.it was a pain to change the boom cable. I also glued the boom overload clutch http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...ps21c13b1c.jpg http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...psa0451842.jpg http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...psa5ec4763.jpg http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...ps67a9ce24.jpg |

Re: hobby engine crawler crane
I ordered my crane from amazon for around $120 shipped.
I wanted it 2 years ago....but I could only find in the uk for around $150 shipped. great crane in stock form, enough power to lift 1/2 lb all day. the tracks are garbage, drive train for tracks are too fast. bucket opens on the down function,so both lines are controlled together. but for the money....id buy another one,no questions asked. I added weight to the bucket to make it grip heavier objects. the crane max capacity stock can handle 1lb before tipping on low boom angle. google search hobby engine 1/12 crawler crane |
