TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
So it all started when my Globe showed up! I had traded it for my Mercedes and the Bruder trailer and was starting over fresh.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ps148b57e6.jpg Didnt take long and I was building the diff's and locking them up as I made them. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ps1452f5a3.jpg Got enough of the Fulda Crossforces to outfit this soon to be work truck! http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...psd2f84f08.jpg Painted the cab Tamiya "Micra Red" and it turned out lighter due to white primer. It is lighter then intended but still turned out not bad! http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ps4c3786a7.jpg Since I was planning on 6x6 and a guy I know was selling what was left of his HighLift, I got the body, transmission, two axles and the body off him. Frame was hacked up pretty bad and was un usable :( The axles were heavily used so I had to buy new plastic halfs off eBay and rebuild them. Bearing kits from STELLA models came in handy there!! http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ps196e0d46.jpg Next was the roof spoiler. Yeah its kinda... different but then again so is the truck! lol http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...psbf4db131.jpg Next was the trailer. I got that 42" trailer off of here. It was a stock trailer that has been stretched and spruced up a little bit. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ps06f565b3.jpg I got a trailer suspension and put it on. I used a pole trailer rear bumper setup and put in the tamiya trailer lights at the same time. The trailer did have lights but they were just hooked up to a single servo lead and was all on or all off. now i have brakes and signals. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...psd073eee1.jpg since the HL tranny was huge and not geared down, I found this on evil bay and dropped it in. yeah bit expensive but a planetary to a two speed trans to a transfer case all in one. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...psabcc7ae8.jpg I made the plunge and drilled holes and tapped it in! (ALSO!! It has an RC4WD 80T motor!) http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ps54018d9c.jpg and now I have a 6x6 Globe!! (I have yet to get the drive shafts though!!) http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ps7dd8d51c.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ps541eb318.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ps30ab210c.jpg |
Re: TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
Looks like a really nice truck and trailer combo! I wanted one those planetary transmissions too, but when I started getting serious about buying one, Rigid RC was all out of them. Oh well. Let me know how you like that transmission.

Re: TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
I got mine from amusingparts123. it was on the uk ebay. think i paid a bit too much for it but at the time it was the only source i knew of. there is a link on the parts bag that came with it that i got the manual off of and they list it a bit cheaper on their website. http://www.wtbcar.com/ Some interesting things on there but some is expensive..

Re: TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
Well got her nearly assembled today.
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...psde6d80f7.jpg This is how the new transmission sits http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...psf9d9d666.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ps47a7ef8c.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a3...ps1ded4787.jpg I also hooked up the cable pull for the tranny to go into 2nd gear... hope it works right. Also the great debate... MFC-01 or Servonaught?? (if that is spelled right) Leaning to the MFC because of the lights and sounds with vibration and will plug into the trailer I wired up... |
Re: TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
I like how that transmission fits in the chassis!

Re: TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
Looking good!

Re: TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
That tranny is designed for a HL I guess! oh well works for me!!
Thanks Shawn! I took the plunge!! I ordered all 3 big rig drive shafts, and new set of hubs for the rears, and the MFC-01!! now to wait for it to arrive and for customs to have their way with me... oh and I did some more wrenching on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUjbxdyoUiU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4_Th8Ou_60 |
Re: TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
it is nice and compact. Will have to wait to see how fast it is when the drive shafts show up. if its too fast i can still fit in another planetary!! lots of room under the floors still!

Re: TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
Cool build and that tranny looks great sitting in there, I've been eyeing them up too. looks like the same one as in rc4wd Armagedon 8x8
Looking forward to an action vid Stu |
Re: TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
this one here?
http://www.beadlok.com/product/image...-JD00012-2.jpg that is the "high torque" version. I cannot confirm if it is still 4wd. Seems like a waste if that is what they put in that truck because it goes to a transfer case half way down. http://www.beadlok.com/product/image...JD00012-12.jpg http://www.wtbcar.com/shopping/image...hv-500x500.jpg http://www.wtbcar.com/shopping/image...hv-500x500.jpg |
Re: TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
No telling if that new transmission is AWD capable, from those pictures anyway. A divorced transfer case might seem like a waste of money, if the new transmission has two output shafts, but from a packaging standpoint, that might be the best way to set things up. There probably isn't enough room in the center of the chassis for a motor and transmission.

Re: TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
Here's a better pic showing that it is indeed Awd, I must have meant the 8x4 Armaggedon:confused:

Re: TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
i think the high torque version is just an additional planetary before the transmission's built in planetary. I already told myself it is too fast ill put another one in lol

Re: TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
How did you hide the frame on your flat-bed?
I know there are several methods. I'm just curious how you chose to do it. I'm thinking of lengthening my own flat-bed and would probably use a similar method. - RCT |
Re: TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
I didn't build it but here is an underside shot.

Re: TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
OK, Thank you. It helps
Now I have a better idea as to what to do for mine :) - RCT |
Re: TheStuffz' 6x6 Stretched Globe Liner!!
Looks like just longer angle aluminum was used for the sides and the end parts are used for bracing. very stiff believe it or not! will have to see what it can handle for weight.
