Sailbagger,
Nice work. One question can you show how you obtain the set in the spring. Set being the curve. Thank you Paul |
Re: simple device to build cheap and exactly leave springs
Nice jig. Looks quite useful. I may have to steal this idea.

Hello Paul, i hope to translate it correct: While cutting the bronze with scissors, it curls. I turned the strpes manual in the correct Position, only little and fast work. |
Re: simple device to build cheap and exactly leave springs
I really like what you have done. What thickness of bronze are you using, and what material are you using to hold the springs together?

Re: simple device to build cheap and exactly leave springs
They look nice as a static part, but will they spring,or simply bend under pressure?

Hello Rob, the thickness is 0,5mm. The parts for hold the springs together is in every windshield wiper under the rubber. Naturally i have used an old. The parts a pressed with aid of a vise. |

Sailbagger,
Yes you have translated correctly, thankyou for the response. The vid of the spring set flexing is excellent. Cheers Paul |
Re: simple device to build cheap and exactly leave springs
those springs are very cool and look real! . I would like to build some for the rear of my trucks as the stock Tamiya are way to soft for hauling a trailer load of dirt. While on the topic of springs I have noticed that if you use just a single Tamiya leaf for the front axel it will allow it to operate better when going over uneven bumps. it also helps with traction as the frame does not twist as much and keeps weight balanced better on the drives...

Re: simple device to build cheap and exactly leave springs
I know this is a 7 year old thread but if your still around how did these bronze leaf springs hold up... Do you still make them like this ?? I think I'd like to give it a try if they have held up well.
