Tires

Hello all, I was just thinking about using flex seal as the rubber for a custom tire. Thoughts?

Re: Tires

Like spraying it on the inside of a mold in a 1 or 2" thick layer all around. It seems like it should work, it's strong enough to plug 5" holes in bucket etc...

Re: Tires

Cat966c-I don't think that will work very well. The surface may not give good traction. If you want to make your own tires look at my thread on the Cat 777D truck. It is a fairly simple process and it is explained in detail in this thread.-

Ok thanks, I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and buy some urethane rubber…eventually…when I win the lottery lol. And also I read your 777 thread and yes very impressive work!

T-N-T-Lou-thanks a lot for your comments. I am really surprised that no one has tried this. It is just not that difficult although there are a few critical steps that must be followed precisely. I think anyone with reasonable skills could do this.

Re: Tires

Cat966c-your welcome. You talk like money is a problem . Surely you must realize if you are building a 6' model  that you are going to spend a major pile of money. I think making your tires would be one of the cheapest parts. God luck with your build. Thanks also for your comments on the truck.
