Ok, this is just weird to see all three turning the same way?:confused::rolleyes:

What would it be used for???

Re: Paradoxical gears....
That's crazy! It looks like three flowers rubbing all over each other:cop:....
My brain doesn't even understand how it works... |
Re: Paradoxical gears....
no mario u cant use them for a 3 speed:)

That is crazy, I'm also wondering what application this would be practical for?
|
Re: Paradoxical gears....
From what I can see it has no purpose and just one of those gotta make it because someone says I cant.
There's no reduction factor and a major friction issue the way they move....... Ya, it's stupid..... Sorry for posting...:o:rolleyes:  All I was doing was research for a conveyor drive system and this came up? |
Re: Paradoxical gears....
It's all cool!! I think with the ability to test and design things with modern software and advanced cnc machines things like this are being mad cuz they can :). I've caught myself on youtube looking for something and ending up somewhere way different!! I've seen some similar paradoxical drive systems that have no practical purpose but just look way cool,, and weird like a contortionist!! Something just looks off!! It's all good Mario !! Ya ought to see some of the parts I've made!! ( they just don't work:)). You getting cold weather yet?

Re: Paradoxical gears....
I think it's an optical illusion... probably chain drive in the rear so all three spools turn the same way. :D

Me too! Then I had to sign in so that they knew I was over 18....:cop::lol: |
Re: Paradoxical gears....
Not chain drive joe. Based on priciest of cirles. It's 3d or rather has length to grantee there is no dead zone where a off center circle would simply pull away from the mating.
Item. There us a gear reduction effect - note that the primary driven is a single loan and the left is twin while the ri h ht has three. But it is not a 1:2 and 1:3 ratio box. As for uses not sure. Maybe a supercharger that does not require a gear set to keep in time. Therefore quiet. |
Re: Paradoxical gears....
I see what you mean Izzy about looking at it in a 3d perspective. My brain thinks and sees gears turning but it is actually a pushing effect that makes it happen???

Re: Paradoxical gears....
Thanx for the explanation Izzy, but I just can't absorb how it works.
