Re: Structo dumptruck conversion

I think those old bottom dumps were just trip the doors and let 'er fly. They were moving big yardages and get it dumped and back for another load was the name of the game. They opened by gravity...

Re: LINN Model DD-15 "HafTrak" Dump (1/14)

That's looking good! I'm looking at those phillips head screws, though. There's a site called microfasteners.com that sells small hex head nuts and bolts that would look real good on that case.

Re: double ended hydraulic cylinder

I think Frizzen was suggesting instead of using a pump driven system, you could use a servo pushing on a separate cylinder to drive the steering cylinder/s, sort of a master and slave setup. They...

Re: Caterpillar 990H - 1:14.5

I was trying to figure out how the lock ring on the rim works because I couldn't see any retainers or split in it to allow it to come off. Then I realized the rims are two halves sharing the...

Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck

That looks great! Can't wait to see it loaded, starting out on the flat and then climbing a hill, downshifting on the way up.

Re: Frankenstein Crane

I love it! I've thought about doing something like this but other things get in the way...

The travel in the 1:1 machines was driven off the swing shaft unless it had independent swing and travel....

Re: Nylint michigan crane conversion, hopefully

I mixed the channels so up-down on the right stick makes both drums turn together and left-right only controls the closing line.

Re: Nylint michigan crane conversion, hopefully

If you want to dig something like sand, you may need to add weight and add more reeving to increase the bite. Clams have some weird dynamics as they close. The more they close, the more the closing...

Re: Newbie Scratch Build - D575A Dozer

Looks like your track pads are on the right track:D In post #19, I was looking at the angle of the bends and the grouser bar fit thinking that'll bind up as soon as they get some dirt/rocks/sand in...

Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck

Very nice! I was thinking while watching that there has to be some way to attach some kind of noisemaker to the motor that would replicate the Detroit Diesel sound like clamping a playing card to a...

Re: Newbie Scratch Build - D575A Dozer

Dang, you're off to an impressive start for a first build. Those track links are beautiful!

Frizzen, if you click on the pictures it'll open a bigger one.

Re: Old school Cat D8H

Somehow I had a feeling when I saw the D8H in the thread index that you were gonna be from Washington. Are you a logger? Loggers love them D8s, especially H's.

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus-Monighan Walking Dragline

Haven't been able to get on here for a while. Wow, great progress! Only problem I see is, no one will be able to see the great workmanship inside if you get it all covered up.

Re: Bucyrus Erie 40H Excavator 1:14

Looking great! Is the stick a solid piece? I'm guessing the boom is solid, too, just two pieces welded together at the bend?
