Re: Movie Optimus Prime build

I actually used pinheads. Drilled small holes with a pinvise, put the pin through and glued it, then cut off the bit inside.

If i was to do it again though, i wouldn't do it that way. Externally...

Re: optimus prime transformers

Niiiiice. Love seeing trucks all lit up!

Bit of constructive criticism, the headlights look like cool white leds, which make them look quite blue. If you use warm white leds it will help to...

Re: Bobs Tamiya 1/16 Tiger 1

I know, at that pric, even with what I've spent on after market stuff, it's still cost me half what the tank and aber set retail for.

Re: Bobs Tamiya 1/16 Tiger 1

Much progress!

Being a Tamiya kit, most of the tank practically assembles itself, so a lot is done.

The lower hull is pretty much assembled, just adding all the details to it. I had to plug up...

Re: Bobs Tamiya 1/16 Tiger 1

Yeah i'm actually planning to get a Heng Long King Tiger, after the Tiger 1 is done. I can get almost the same kinds of detail sets for it, so as long as its basically right, i can replace all the...

Re: Bobs Tamiya 1/16 Tiger 1

Before i scored this Tamiya id looked at the various chinese clones, and to be fair most are carbon copies of the Tamiya, but with a few parts tweaked to avoid being sued. The quality tends to be a...

Re: Are Any of Our Talented Builders Looking to Do Builds for Customers?

I'd consider it, i enjoy the building, but after that things tend to just sit on the shelf and gather dust.

But, the problem is the people asking for them, arent thinking about the work that goes...

Re: How To Question... Need Help

Really i think it comes down to what tool you're most comfortable with using.

When i cut my last King Hauler body up, i actually used a scribing tool. I found i got better results than using a...

Re: You can stop building trucks now, Tamiya Grand Hauler.

Thankgod they dropped the price. Tell em they're dreaming for $600.
But thinking about it critically, for $450 its worth it:

The new front and rear bumper, and a few extra chrome pieces probably...

Re: Bobs Tamiya 1/16 Tiger 1

Yeah its a fairly flexible steel cable, there shouldnt be any reason you cant replace the cable with a longer one, as long as its the same diameter. Because of the way the sleeve on the loops work,...

Re: Movie Optimus Prime build

Model repaint done. I love the red paint i've used, but its stunningly hard to capture in a photo the true depth of the colour. I'll try getting a few pics under studio lights.

Re: Bobs Tamiya 1/16 Tiger 1

Re: Movie Optimus Prime build

I just finished building the OP model. Holy cr@p what a kit. Its fully poseable even after construction, has about 1000 points of articulation. Even the fingers and knuckles are fully poseable.

Bobs Tamiya 1/16 Tiger 1

So, even though i havent finished my M1070 yet (waiting for parts), its time for another build.

Browsing ebay recently i came across someone selling an unbuilt Tamiya 1/16 Tiger 1 kit, along with...

Re: Movie Optimus Prime build

Seems the frame might be problematic. Heaps of articulation, the arms, legs, shoulders, hips etc all have little poly caps so they can rotate but also be detached, which is good.

But, the various...
