Re: Bucyrus 495 hr

I think shovels and draglines use the same method. A series of clamps on each side of the drums. Look on threads on this forum and find interior views of draglines and look for close ups of the drums...

Re: DRAGLINE FOR SALE-VERY CHEAP

Dragline has found a new home right here in Alabama. Looks like we will have a new young dragline operator in training.

Re: DRAGLINE FOR SALE-VERY CHEAP

Hey Jim-Steve probably would not want this in his trailer. Next to his masterpiece my model would look like something built in a junk yard by a 10-year old. My drag does not have a walking system b/c...

Re: DRAGLINE FOR SALE-VERY CHEAP

Hi frizzen-all you have to do is plug it into the wall. All motors have power supplies in the control box that regulates everything to 12 volts DC and low amps. I did that for safety.

Re: DRAGLINE FOR SALE-VERY CHEAP

Hi Dan-great hearing from you. The last time I read about your dozer you were giving up on the gas engine and going to electric power. Did that happen? I have trouble logging on here but I still look...

DRAGLINE FOR SALE-VERY CHEAP

I have a model dragline that I no longer have a use for and I will GIVE it to someone who is willing to come to my house and pick it up. It is NOT a scale model, just something I made to play with my...

Re: P&H 2800 Electric Rope Shovel

Tyler-that looks great! Your dipper door looks like it is heavy enough to latch itself. The machine must have been made by someone who knows these shovels very well.

Re: P&H 2800 Electric Rope Shovel

Tyler-Could you please post some close-up pictures of you dipper and door. I think I have some more build pictures of my shovel on a flash drive if I can find it.

Re: 1/16 Bucyrus-Monighan Walking Dragline

Hey Steve-sometimes I can log on here and sometimes I can't. But I will keep trying. Your dragline looks better everytime I check it out. Good job!!!

Re: P&H 2800 Electric Rope Shovel

Those joysticks you have will work but I think it will be complicated. 9W may be able to walk you thru this since he has a real set of controls working his model dragline.

Re: Best way to figure out motors and gear reductions

9w is correct but he is a professional machinist and doing things like tapered drums was way above my skill level. My shovel model was small so I too had small drums but I used 3/32" black nylon rope...

Re: Best way to figure out motors and gear reductions

I like the shovel you have started (inherited). Shovels are one of my main interest. You just have to do a little math and use common sense when figuring speed. I would start by dragging a pc. of...

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

I like the cat video-do you have any video of your trommel working at Cabin Fever? Surely at this fantastic event someone has more video than what has been posted.

Re: PC1800 Front Shovel (1/12)

I don't know if the issues with this site have been fixed or if I just got lucky tonight but I was able to log-in and post for the first time in many months. I really like the slip ring you have...

Site Problems

For me the htpps works as far as quick loading but when I login and go to a thread I click it I am automatically logged out. Does anyone else have this problem or know what I am doing wrong?

Re: Euclid R-62 dump truck

Great project-this will be fun to watch. Good to see scratch building happening again on this site. If this is any where near the quality of your cranes it will be spectacular!!

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

Looks great cooper-I cannot imagine how many hours you have in that soldering fixture but it is necessary. When I was building sometimes I felt like I spent more time making special fixtures than...

Re: Board running slow?

My computer takes 12-15 secs. to load the forum and then the same amount of time to changed threads. Unfortunately there is nothing new to look at.:(

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

Nice work Cooper-when I saw the first pics of the loader I thought it was huge but I didn't realize how big your truck was. Looks like they go together perfectly. Good job.

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

Very nice work cooper-the detail work on this machine is outstanding!! Should make a great model and probably move a lot of dirt but I'm not sure I would want to get it dirty. Oh yeah-I like the...

Re: CAT 14M Motor Grader

Your welcome skeeter-sometimes I spend hours on YT just looking at construction models and full size equipment. It amazes me what all is on there.
