I found this at my local scrap metal merchants, 5 meters of 50mm ally bar and a 2.5 meter piece of 20x60, I picked them up for 50€:D

The 1:1 has 10 wheel bolts but I went with 8, those 2mm holes are a sod to tap!

I have a similar problem with surface rust on my cast woodworking machines, I usually coat them with an anti-rust after use.
