Re: Great Dane excavating co.

Like your clamps, great idea. I agree with you that the cost of the commercial "welding" clamps is insane. I usually buy the cheapest Harbor Freight clamps I can find for welding. Like you, just...

Re: Great Dane excavating co.

Absolutely incredible work! Thanks for the update photos.

Is that a certi-flat welding table? Been thinking of getting one. How difficult was it to assemble? Stay as flat as they claim?

Re: Demag TC 500 truck crane in scale 1/24

Awesome work! Must have taken a lot of work to get all those rods adjusted to the proper lengths so all those wheel sets will turn to different radiuses simultaneously. Were you able to scale off...

Acrylic or enamel, red is one of those colors that is just a pita to paint with a brush. Really looking good.

Re: KH Beam Hauler

Holy cow! Look at all the tires! Don't know what your plan for all of them is but I bet its going to be awesome! And 'strip' is right. Your new workbench looks long enough to serve as a runway. ...

Re: 3D Printing Test

Some more interesting questions Wombii. Would require some more testing, which I'm not going to do, to answer the relative strength question. However, I think that a 100% infill printed part and a...

Re: 3D Printing Test

Thanks Frizzen. I'm not going to be doing any more testing for awhile, too many other irons in the fire. As I said above, if I do another trailer it will be a combination of I-beam with 100%...

Re: 3D Printed Lowboy Redux

Yes, you are correct. I recently ran some tests on ways to increase strength, see article in 'Truck Building Tech'. One of the best ways on increasing strength turned out to be doubling thickness...

A few pictures of part B being made. Here's the part on the bed of the printer right after the extruder has paused and moved out of the way.

3D Printing Test

In an earlier article I wrote describing how I built a 3D printed lowboy trailer there was some discussion about the strength limits of such a model versus the conventional all metal designs. This...

Re: Scania airport fire truck

That paint job really turned out nice, good job. Have to admit though that I would never have associated a color called "sulpher yellow" with a fire engine.

Thanks very much. I've become inspired to do some testing on some techniques to improve strength and hopefully will have some information to pass on shortly.
