Looking at that link you posted the 6v and 12v motors have the same specs. Except the 6v motor pulls more current...
Plus like I said if you drive a 12v motor at 7.2v your 17rpm becomes about 10rpm...

Based on your findings I wonder if a 23 or 30 rpm 6v would work... I've started ordering more 6v motors.
12v running on 7.2v cuts speed and torque almost in half... but a 6v running 7.2 give you...

Wow that's a tough one....
it would have to be TINY....is there a piece of plastic tubing small enough that you could cut a slot in the bottom then just slip the antenna in the top and glue it in...

The metal axles and wheels with the narrow tires are 152mm outside to outside edge... the crane is 149 and change inside edge to inside edge.
I have a set of 3d printed wheels that are 137mm wide...

I was thinking about a cutoff wheel on a dremel as well....it's about the only thing small enough to get in there.... but that is "real" steel in them thar Nylints.. so it might take some time.......

I have been pondering the same thing....As you have said the structure under the crane is 2 or 3 mm to narrow, and way to high, I've been trying to figure out how to cut those two pieces down to...

I use those redcat motors on my WPL motor/transfer case combos they work really well they add just enough speed....You can put a drop of solder on those press on gears to help hold them in place....

Well I didn't get a lot of pictures before I painted it... I went with white and green....Only because I thought it looked good, Years ago in the D.C. area there was a company called "Acacia Crane"...

Time for an update....
The boom for this toy was plastic so it had to go.....I'm using a metal boom for the Huina 1580, it's a little longer but should be fine.... to replace all the plastic gears...
