Re: 1/16 Scale FrankenDiff

I don't think the 'flexible' option would work for something like that. It only allows movement in sub-assemblies function in another assembly but only within the limits of the applied constraints. ...

Re: Purple Nurple: ~1:12 Frobeliner cabover scratch build

Looks really good, nice job. Just out of curiosity, why 1/12? The inside of that cab is huge, I wouldn't know what to do with all that space. I agree with you on the use of arduinos but because of...

Re: 1/16 Scale FrankenDiff

That is a very interesting idea. I've never used a Gold-N-Rod before as i've never been into airplanes but know what they are. Thanks Don, gonna have to do some thinking on this.

Re: 1/16 Scale FrankenDiff

Thanks Don. Have thought about doing similar to my lathe. Couldn't do the cross slide like you did. I bought mine set up for CNC and the servo mount prevents inserting anything into the the...

Re: 1/16 Scale FrankenDiff

Looking good Don. Like your solution to handling the cross slide scale. Can those scales be trimmed to shorter lengths?

Re: 1/16 Scale FrankenDiff

The iguaging scales are very popular in the home machinist hobby world. If you want an even better readout google 'yuris toys'. Yuri developed a, relatively, inexpensive way to combine the scales...

Re: 1/16 Scale FrankenDiff

The two programs are pretty much the same. I've still got a copy of Cubify Design (from when 3DSytems owned the software) and it works the same way. I played around some today with the 'flexible'...

Re: 1/16 Scale FrankenDiff

It does indeed, last place I had thought to look. Had gone through all the preference menus and couldn't find anything. Will have to do some experimentation as I have never tried it. Weird in that...

Re: 1/16 Scale FrankenDiff

Sounds like you have a real good handle on the assembly process in Alibre. Just wish it all would work. Where is this 'flexible' check box? I don't recall ever seeing such a thing. Or is it only...

Re: Lafayette, IN - Farm Toy show 28Feb-2Mar 2025

Some photos I took during the RC Truck & Equipment meet held at the Layfayette Farm Toy Show, Feb 28 to Mar 2, 2025. This was the 2nd year at this venue and we were given about a third more space to...

Re: 1/16 Scale FrankenDiff

Wanted to reply to your post on the 28th Don but I was at the Lafayette RC truck show this weekend and only had access to open public wifi and I don't like submitting passwords over those.

Re: 1/16 Scale FrankenDiff

Don't you love it. Think you got one simple change to make and it cascades into an avalanche. Good thing this is a hobby, I'd hate to have to charge someone for the time involved in some of these...

Re: 1/16 Scale FrankenDiff

Lord only knows what happened to the site this time. Was completely gone this time, not even any html code showing up when I tried to inspect the site. Glad to see it's back though and hoping it...

Re: 1/16 Scale FrankenDiff

Yea, with the Sherline parting tools you need to keep the blade as short as possible. Because they are so thin they can be easily deflected. And that of course will lead to problems. The other...

Congrats on getting your process worked out. What I love about this hobby, educational opportunities just abound. Which Bruder are you going to convert first?

Re: 1/16 Scale FrankenDiff

That's good to see. Little factoid to file away for future reference if I ever try to do the same.

I was using my cutoff tool in a QCTP for quite a while and always had issues with it. Given the...

Re: 1/16 Scale FrankenDiff

Oh man, I feel your pain and aggravation. Morse taper and draw bolt is good when you want concentricity but a pain when you need length behind chuck. How were you cutting off the excess tube? ...

Re: 1/10 GMC PD-4501 Greyhound Scenicruiser Bus Build-3d printed

I fully understand. I've been working on a model of a 1950's Mack B-61 for over two years now. Lots of photos on internet as it is a fairly popular model for restorations. But dimensions, not so...

Re: TH407C Telehandler 1:14 scale

Ah, that makes sense. Looking at your parts they looked to be too smooth and shiny for fdm unless you post-processed the heck out of them and I couldn't see resin parts being strong enough for that...

Re: TH407C Telehandler 1:14 scale

Looking good, I like the axles. What kind of plastic are you printing those parts from? Nice thing about these machines is that you don't have to make some kind of suspension system for them.
