At least you have shops that are willing to work with you. Of my local three one was willing to order my first truck . He had been a shop for 20 years or so and never heard of a semi kit.

Think scale city 1600sqft and about 120 trucks stuffed in it. Oh and typically more trailers than trucks.
We use roadways that are close to scale width - so no high speed rolling when others are...

Wedico products are 1/16 scale.
There are other 1/16 as well.
As for our 1/14 scale. The frame channel might be too narrow for most of our transmissions. and we prefer our leaf spring...
